I have a 99 LGT 5MT 2.5L BD

I have been having engine problems so i had to pull my engine and then go to a junk yard and pull one from there.

So right now i have attmepted twice using a 96 shortblock with 99 heads. Each time there has been a mix of water and oil coming out of my exhaust manifold.

After ther first time we replaced the head gaskets again.

So now the only thing i can think of is that there is a difference between the 99 heads and the 96 heads that allows water to escape and come out of the exhaust manifold.

Any ideas??

Do you have the stock 96 heads around to compare with the 99s?

Were the heads and block machined flat prior to install?

i do have the 96 heads to compare but the 99 are still in the car and havnt been removed yet

The block and heads were not machined but were checked for warping

i believe the 96 head is diff from the 99 head. but i still don't know why you would still get oil and water on your muffler? piston rings?
