Is a Loyale considered a Legacy?

I ended up buying a 1985 Loyale 4 door Sedan 4wd Turbo yesterday. Wow, it needs some work, but at $200, it was a good deal. It runs, and drives. It has an air suspension which needs to be fixed or replaced, it needs a new clutch cable, and a new exhaust. Possibly a new turbo. Oh, I need an ignition, door locks, and keys. In order to start it, you stick a screwdriver in what's left of the ignition module. :lol:

I'll post pics later. Also going to call the DMV to make sure there's nothing wrong with the title... It runs, and when the clutch isn't stuck, it's actually pretty drivable. Has 3 original wheels too, might grab the 4th if it can be found. Oh, the battery is toast, but after jump starting it, it has no problems. Good alternator.

$200 and the cost to repair for all those problems? 85 Loyal, parts wouldn't be easy to come by (at least where I am) I don't think I would have made that move.

You can convert the airbag susp. to all-strut too...

Yeah, going all strut. Though, if the airbags are an easy fix...

Heh, it's not like I need it fixed right now. It'll take time, but not too much money.

the airbag suspension is a biatch to fix... struts are cheap.

thats a good deal on a running car, no matter what it is.

Loyal's are fun, fairly easy to work on. We have a ton of them aorund here both driving and in junk yards.

I'm not 100% sure but it should be a ea series motor and I think they produce around 110 HP. Not sure.

Loyal's can be very reliable. I knew someone that had multiple Loyal's last in upwards of 200,000.

It's got the turbo EA82, and it does move. It's also 4WD, so most of the time, it's FWD anyway.

If the air suspension is an easy fix, I will get it fixed. If it would be easier to get pneumatic struts, I will do that. :wink: Simple.
