So i got this idea since engine bays havent really changed from 97-04 how would BG/BD hood line up with BE/BH? any1 ever tried this. Or should i say i am willing to try all i need is to find BG/BD owner in tri-state area who is willing to try also.

I'm going to go ahead and say with 100% certainty 'no way in hell would it ever line up let alone look good'. Different shape, the grill is built in, and not even hoods from all BE/BH's will fit each other.

yes grill and headlights will require a lot of modification to say the least, this weekend ill be working on the car and ill measure the hood with tape from all sides and maybe someone will be able to measure their hood just to see if its the same dimension wise. i am mostly concern with fenders and firewall fitment front will have to be modifed a lot in order for it to work but if its only the front then ill probably buy one and see how it looks and what needs to be done to make it look good. just my idea for winter project.

I highly doubt it would work. Why would you want to go through all that trouble? For a hood scoop?

like i said it will require grill and headlight modification and entire front end would be unique

I don't see it happening.

thank you at least one person gets it. just cause i want to try something different dont mean i have to get flamed for it. we all try to customize our car as much as we can. dont we??? this is my idea do a complete body make over i also want to put a supercharger in yes not a turbo. you can flame me all you want im gonna find my answers anyway even if i have to get measuring tape and go to a parked BD/BG and get my measurements that way.

Did I really flame you? I don't see anywhere in my posts flaming you. I said I don't see it happening. Customize away, I don't think it's going to fit. Do you want to here members opinions or just what you want to hear? Next time I'll try not to be so harsh

no you didnt flame me. i just read with attitude. nevermind. i have been working for more than a month without a even a weekend off so im kinda easy to set off now sorry.
i see where your concern about not fitting come from but i really think that if fenders and firewall side line up which they should as engine bays are 99% identical my H6 even had snorkus going into fender unlike 4cyl BE's where it all sits in the engine bay. Grill is easy to modify but headlights will be difficult to fit. the only thing i need is measurements of both hoods. What i was hoping to hear is that there is a member around tri-state who has the hood and is willing to let me test fit it. i mean those hoods fit WV's why cant the fit other subarus?

It seems like a lot of what I say gets taken the wrong way. No harm no foul. If it works out for you great. I doubt everything will line up, if I had a BD I get measurements for ya. Good luck with that too, I ask for measurements all the time and get nothing lol Can someone get this guy some measurements.

Slightly not-what-you're looking for, but have you thought of doing a hood depression instead? Like a radiator pass-through vent, by cutting a line across part of your hood, and pushing the metal down?

dodik

not really a fan of depressions plus i do need a hood with a scoop i want to put a supercharger in later with TMIC maybe next summer or so. if this doesnt work im going to continue my search in finding BC scoop and just doing that. but this is the measurements i need for now to see how big is the difference between the two.

front hood width 54 3/8"
rear hood width 57 3/8"
rear of hood cave in 7"
length of hood on sides 42 7/8"

This is off of a 95' BG hope it helps

good luck, keep us informed. Will the new hood w/scoop have enough room to fit a supercharger on the top of the engine?

dodik
08-30-2007, 04:01 PM
SC would go to the pass side of the engine thats where i got most the room for it ABS unit will need to be relocated a bit though. Sc will sit the same way Reddevil's is over at nasioc. my SC ideas havent been aproved by my wife yet the hood and some other body work is though, thats why im starting this. ill measure my car over the weekend and will post results

I highly doubt the hood will fit - the fenders are different BE - BD, and there is actually more room in the BE engine bay.

Supercharger, why not just go water-cooled? Keep it hidden, you could run a cooler down below and whomp allover other cars 0-75mph...

so i measured my hood in the morning i couldnt wait till weekend and

front hood width 54 1/2"
rear hood width 57 1/2"
rear of hood cave in 6 3/4"
length of hood on sides 39 1/2"

so compare to VTLegacy's results i think its pretty close on all sides except the length. now i need to find a cheap hood to see how it will line up to know for sure if im going or not going to do it.

Dodik, why don't you try and source a Subaru water-air intercooler? You can easily run an Air-water setup using a pump and a big cooler/ac condensor as your heat exchanger in the front.

For one thing, you'll be less prone to heat sink
