Sunroof wont close all the way

My sunroof wont close all the way. It seems like there is something that wont let it shut all the way. It goes into the roof but it does not come up flush with the roof. Also the button to vent the roof does not work but Im pretty sure that goes back to the first problem. Anybody know if this is an easy fix or if I need a new motor or something. I want to get it fixed to prevent anymore damage and my mom wants her space in the garage back soon. Any help would be great thanks.

I had this happen to me before... I just turned the car off and said screw it, left it parked in the garage, everytime I started it up to go somewhere I tried to close it, finally it closed, (thank god before it rained) I then went to the junk yard and pulled a switch off another legacy.. wasn't that hard to change out, and I haven't had a problem since. I don't know if this will solve your problem, but it's a good place to start. Good luck...

This happen to me for about a day. I just kept playing with it, open closed it a few times. I clean all around checked the tracks and put some synthetic grease on it and worked it in. I really don't know what the problem was but it went away.

There can be something stuck on the rails, playing with it might shake it out.

I checked the tracks and I didnt see anything. The roof goeas all the way forward but does not go up. I tried to manually move the roof by turning the allen head on the motor with a wrench and it move a little but it did not go up the rest of the way. Is there only one motor to move the roof front to back and vertically to vent it?

Fixed it! Happened to find a small post that broke off the passenger side in the track. Its was hiding under the glass stuck in a glob of grease. Problem solved. Im so happy it was that and not something that would require a headliner removal. I guess that would be a good time to put in the JDM rear window w/ wiper but that will be later down the road.Thanks for all your help.
