This is sad...but gives me an idea. Maybe we should have a RIP/retired thread. What do you guys think?

Oh man, tough break. :-(.

Shane, I like the idea of the retired thread. You could put it in members rides 1 for legacies, and have one for non-legs in members rides 2. I'd be willing to moderate it too.

IT LIVES!!!

The Subaru came back to life late this afternoon on the coroners table! It woke up and said that it's heart (engine) is still beating strong, it just needs a new water pump and timing belt!

Tally:

Timing Belt
Water Pump + Gaskets
Idler Pully + Belt
CV boot

Total = $700 bones

SHE's BULLETPROOF HAHA

As long as you didn't crack the block from extreme overheating, you're good to go.

Excellent! :smt023

How does it handle with the outback struts? Do you have the outback sway bar as well?

-::||UPDATE||::-

Don't let that title fool you. This isn't good news.

I got everything fixed. The subaru now has BRAND NEW:

Timing Belt
Water Pump
Water Pump Gaskets
CV boot
Idler Pully
AC Belt
Radiator
205/75r15 Tires
Knock Sensor
Duty C Solenoid

The first 6 of which were done last week.

The car has 130k, has rust on the right rear 1/4 panel, has a broken antenna and a few dings.

oh...and it also needs HEADGASKETS.

I'm selling it. Best offer gets it, you haul.

ej22 or 25?

Heads blowing on an ej22 is an odd happening.

the car's worth about $2.2k

last week i spent $700 not including the $300 set of tires the week before.

the garage that fixed the stuff last week wants about $1300 plus $100 to tow it back to their place. the other dealership that's about 4 miles away (save on towing) wants $1900 to do the job.

so, if i went with the cheaper shop, that means (including tires) i'd've spent $2400 in 3 weeks on a car that's not worth any more than $2200.

I'm done with it.
