ABS Removal?

Ok, has anyone here ever taken the ABS out of their car? First off, I think that the Subaru ABS in my car blows, it freaks out every time I even slightly brake in the winter. Secondly, I want to put the air intake for my car right where the huge module is located (there's not too many other options on my car with the IC piping and what not) So can anyone point me in the right direction. Oh, and before you say my stock ecu wont like, I don't have a stock ecu.

We removed it on the SVX Racer. On the SVX there are two equal lines going into the ABS pump. One is split to FR and RL, the other is split to FL and RR.

I couldn't find a "T" fitting in the thread size that Subaru uses (10x1.0 ??) so I had to get the "T's" and flare fittings in a standard size and cut the Soob connectors off and reflare the lines with the standard fittings.

We were looking for a non-ABS SVX to steal the plumbing off of, but couldn't find any when we needed it.

Personally, I like the ABS on my 97 Leg. I found that once I got decent tires the ABS hardly activated in winter.

The ABS rarely comes on in the winter because I have my winter tires on. But when I had my summer tires on, it was like driving a deathtrap. I guess the key thing here is that the ABS only sucks as bad as your tires.

why cant you put cai in the fender or is it where the ic piping goes thru?
you can always put your battery in the trunk and cai in the battery place

The IC goes where down through the fender and comes up where the battery used to be. And I don't really want the intake in my fender either, because I don't want to suck up any water into the turbo.

Install hood vent and run a short ram? I think I might have to go out of the turbo, 180degree turn, and have the filter sit right above/between the turbo and the TB. If I do that, I'll still have to worry about sucking water in that comes through the hood scoop though...

The thought has occured to me that my ABS probably doesn't function anymore no matter what I do, because I don't have a stock ECU anymore. AM i wrong about that?

I know on the SVX the ABS is completely independent of the ECU?? The ABS computer gets signals from the brake light switch and the 4 wheel sensors.

I don't understand this? Is it a rally car? Otherwise, unless you get really really really heavy rain, you shouldn't have to worry about the intake sucking in water.

If you're afraid of it sucking up water, buy a shield for it. If it rains, put the shield on the filter so it won't suck up water. Leave the shield off if it doesn't rain.

People run water injection on turboed cars, I don't think that rain, unless you are in a hurricane, can quite match the amount of water most people run in injection kits.

That is true of the Legacy too.

I have my intake sucking air from the fender and have driven through some pretty nasty puddles with no problems, snow piles, etc. I would not try to cross any creeks or anything - but if you're doing that you should be looking at some serious piping in the UP direction.
