Just a quick question, how do you reset the ECU on a 02 BE legacy?

disconnect the battery for i think like 30mins or something.

Yea, pretty much. Unless you have an ECU that has been reflashed.

Nope. Only thing I have done to the ECU is install a SAFC II. Would the SAFC be effected by resetting it?

I don't have any experience with piggyback stuff, just the stock ecus. Would someone else like to weigh in on this?

the safc will not be effected under my experience. It has been like 6 years since I used the original safc but I remember it had to be reset to default manually, cutting power would not cause settings to disappear

Any ECU can be soft-reset (clears everything its learned..maps and everything else is kept) by disconnecting power..

..it dosent take much..disconnect the battery, tap the brakes, and reconnect it..you'll notice the car dosent know how to idle..this means it reset.

No need to let it sit..

..and when I say disconnect the battery, I mean only the negative terminal..

^ correct a good indicator is to tap the brakes until the brake lights no longer light up, and you know you have purged the system
