I was driving through a freakin hurricane yesterday in my Legacy, and after driving for about a mile of standing water it started getting noisy.
We can add that as "reason number 700 why neons and subarus are kinda similar"

If by similar, you mean they both have internal combustion engines that are effected by water, then yes
My car runs a little rough and grumbly after sitting in wet conditions as well.

My BE didn't sound any different after I submerged the entire thing up to the windshield for a few seconds.

Mmm, I think i'm going to have to get that borla knockoff after all, because the exahust still seems to be leaking a bit.

I have had that - hit a good puddle and it sounds like the exhaust is up against the body for a minute or two. I always wondered what the hell it was.

Heh, the car is still noisy, and i think i have it narrowed down to the gasket after the cats. Still going to order a header for it. ^_^

Yeah, that wasn't "puddle growl", it was "busted flange growl".

I'm sure i could have fixed it cheaper but i ordered a new cat since the heatshield is missing off this one. Also ordered new trans mounts from subaru, we'll see if those make the car idle a bit better.

Yeah i got a bosal. The flange is welded and about a cm thick so i don't think it'll fail in this car's lifetime.
