gather the tools: a) Two Screwwdrivers (flat and phillips)
b) Oven
c) stained glass spray paint
d) Headlights and foglight
e) and an afternoon

here is a pic of the stained glass painted i use

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/what_huhcb7/P9280152.jpg

1st) we will go over the yellow highbeams first

2nd) Preheat Oven to 250 degrees(while the oven is heating up TAKE OUT ALL LIGHT BULBS, DO NOT PUT THEM IN THE OVEN)

3rd)Remove the 5 screws and place headlight one at a time into the oven, for 6 mins. ( if you have a wife use a tray with foil on it)
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2007/09/P9210129-1.jpg

4th) When time is up remove and pry the lens off the back of the headlight, there are tabs you have to pull up.

After this step it should look like this

[/img]https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2007/09/P9210132-1.jpg

5th) Tape up the high beam section (yes i know the paper i used is white house black market)

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/what_huhcb7/P9210136.jpg

6th) Paint the highbeam, and follow directions on the can, then remove the paper

it should now look like this

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2007/09/P9210137-1.jpg

7th) now set the lights aside and grab the lens

Now we are getting into clearing the corner

8th) Take the lens and unscrew the six screw that hold on the black sheild thing and remove it

9th) take the flat head screwdriver and pry the amber corner out (don't be scared to break it your are removing it anyways)

should look like this now but the highbeams should be yellow

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/what_huhcb7/P9210134.jpg

10th) Put everything back together the same way you took it apart but putting it back in the oven for about 3 mins to heat up the glue back up

And you come up with this

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2007/09/P9210140-1.jpg

NEXT THE FOGS:

Its the same process. you just need a little bit more muscle. And leave the fogs in the oven for 7 mins. (really tough glue)

You start with this

http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/what_huhcb7/P9210142.jpg

half way threw

[img]http://i233.photobucket.com/albums/ee241/what_huhcb7/P9210145.jpg

When they are done

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2007/09/P9210146-1.jpg

Oh and dont forget pick up some Black Silicone and put it on all that areas where you broke a seal, Clear works better for the fogs. DONT BE SKIMPY
Believe me i had to redo one of the headlights to get the mositure out

Oh also have fun and you are doing this at your own risk but very easy

dodik
10-31-2007, 03:27 PM
wasnt hard at all just preheat oven to 250 and put them in for like 6-7 min do them individually. be carefull not to break off those little tabs that hold grills on (like i did, and it was the last one too gorilla glue ftw) glass has markings like top make sure to put them back together same way.

Someone's already done the hard work for me. All I have to do is wait for the package to arrive :)

This is what I just did for my girlfriend's Valentine's present:

After

I used Silverstar bulbs that appear blue/silver but light up amber. The stock amber bulbs in there made it look like I didn't even take out the reflector.

She got the diamonds for Christmas...

So... Valentine's is made easy with some flowers and cleared headlights!

I used 1157 and 1156. I had to go to Autozone, Pep Boys, and Checker just to find the right bulbs! Not everybody carried both 1157 and 1156 for some reason.

And I picked some up for my Legacy. I cleared my headlights and I am still using the OEM amber bulbs.

alright guys im gonna attempt this on my BE, my main concern is warping the headlight so the lens will not fit back on, has this happened to anyone? and after you get everything apart, do you stick them in the over first to heat the glue then stick everything back together or stick everything back together then in the oven!?!

what huh
05-14-2008, 10:36 PM
you can do it either way,

i put all the peices back in the oven and heated up the glue and them put them back together. I think that would work better tho

just an add-on in case theres moisture issues and everything is positively sealed.

remove moisture without removing the headlight.

again, if you're sure everything is sealed and theres still a little condensation to get out, go to the hardware store or Walgreens, Home Depot etc. and get Damp Rid
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2009/04/105684_front200-1.jpg

with a paper towel, make a little packet with this stuff inside(use masking tape). open your lamp from the circle in back as if changing a bulb, and insert the packet. if you are planning on driving soon place it as far away from the bulbs as possible. (paper towel may catch fire) best to leave this in over night while the car isn't gonna be used.

do this every night with a new packet until theres no more condensation problems.

when you remove the old packet, it should be damp. if it is not then you have no more condensation

I just did my headlights on my BH, buuuuut one tiny problem..... i plugged everything back in, but the driving bulbs arent working...the brights work find, but the regular ones dont. :smt013 im guessing i need to just get new bulbs, unless you know what the issue would be. do you think the oven could have affected it? id rather not get a ticket. im too happy right now. :D

So, i realised what i just said, and did....i feel extremly stupid... i forgot to take out the normal bulbs... and i guess the oven did its job.. :smt021 I feel so stupid. >.< I guess i gotta take my nekocon money out and buy some new bulbs. grrr one thing after another. Oh well, im still overly happy about the new look on my outback. that makes up for my loss i guess.

glad you registered here, and was able to clear corners, just buy a pair of bulbs and replace them both so the light output is the same color at night.
