Hello all, my name's Jess. I've been building Fox body Mustangs for over 15 years, and know relatively little about Subaru's. While it's no secret where my heart lies, I love anything fast and don't discriminate.
I've come into possession of a 1991 Subaru Legacy wagon, AWD 5spd- which is why I'm here. It's been sitting in the dirt over three years, needs at least tires and a battery and a serious bath.
The first thing I want to do is get it on the road as a reliable winter alternative to my rare Cobra, but I can't leave anything alone- gearhead to the core. I think it has the makings of a decent sleeper, but almost all my Mustang knowledge is relatively useless with this car. After much hunting around, I think this is the best message board to help me get my little Subie on track- most Legacy boards don't seem to have much to offer by way of the older ones like mine. I'll probably be able to find out most of what I'll need to know with basic searches and lurking, but I look forward to getting to know you folks.

I don't like to chase people away, but http://bbs.legacycentral.org would be a good site to get some info on swapping in an EJ22T engine that would handle some serious boost.

The first bit of advice I'll offer, is that Subarus are like Legos. Pretty much all of the EJ series cars (Legacy, Impreza, Forester, Baja, Tribeca) have a ton of interchangable parts, especially the drivetrain ones, so you have a lot of options, especially since your car doesn't fall under the stricter emissions laws that 96+ cars do.

Educate me. What's a Fox body mustang?

And welcome! We have a few 1st gen owners around here, with some pretty nice rides.

Thanks for the welcome guys.

That's pretty much what I figured. I'm pretty sure I don't want to go swapping engines if I don't have to, but while doing some homework back when I first got the car a few years ago I found essentially the same exact thing over in the UK with a turbo from the factory... so I assumed this engine could handle a bit of boost. That's what I'm hoping anyway. I'm not looking to embarrass STI's or anything stupid, just make it something you don't see coming.

The "Fox" (originating from the Ford Fairmont) is the platform the Mustang was built on from 1979 to 1993. Wilson_Mark posted a beautiful example, with a 5 lug conversion which leads me to believe it's had a lot more done than that.

Welcome, I can get some parts depending what you are looking for. I'm a Group A vendor, the list of parts I can get are in vendor classifieds.

Well, I haven't driven the car in like, four years- it ran pretty good at that point but I'm not sure yet what parts I'll need. Tires and battery I know for sure, probably belts and hoses, since it's got well over 100K on it (IIRC) it should probably get a timing belt too. It's still at my bosses house, I'll take a look tomorrow. This probably isn't the best place to get into that though, I guess I should head over to one of the other boards to get into the details of what it needs/what I want to change/etc.

Anything you need to know about it or what you should get you can learn here. Theres no huge difference in these cars besides the bodies. What they can tell you there we can here.

Oh... LOL! I didn't mean other boards than SLi, I meant other boards than Member Introductions.
