i noticed quite a few took some interest in my civic in another thread i posted. since im really starting to work on it now. i figured id post it here and see what interest it sparked. besides im a car guy, its in my nature to want to show off and brag about a project lol. so ill do a quick quick skip threw starting from day one to current, and then u guys can feel free to ask for more pictures/questions. and ill try and keep this thread pretty updated as i progress on with this very unique project. so no more bs, heres PICTURES!

lets start with the photoshops of the "goal" my ideas are always changing, so dont exspect it to come out looking like this when its done.

bone stock motor. 1.2L. max hp = 50, top speed = 75 mph. 0 - 60 in about 15 seconds. no joke.

part of this project is ditching the metal bumpers and giving it a custom/modern look.

so heres the start of the rear bumper.

that was a very undetailed quick quick catch up to current. so from here on out, ill go into a lot more detail and more pictures. heres current pics.

Bumper is starting to close in on being finished. still a lot of work to do though.

as you can see the side is a little ruff right now... i ran out of resin in the middle of molding so it didnt get enough, so it turned out like crap, and bubbled a little bit since it wasnt saturated enough. ill have to redo it, but it will turn out as well as the middle section did where it was cut.

was working on molding the rear side in. it needs a little more sanding and then a few more layers of glass to get rid of all those lines and smooth it out. but its coming around finally. and its white because the "grey" primer i bought was FRIGGIN WHITE! made me mad lol. but oh well no harm done.

Is that an 02-03 Civic dash?

i cant believe you... everyone on this forum should know exactly by heart what that dash is!!!!

The shape of the HVAC opening looks too trapezoidal to be a BD/BK dash, but it's pretty hard to tell the difference with them gutted (we have an 02 civic).

Actually, looking at it again, it's not a BD/BK unless it's been modified somehow.

Doesn't look like a BC/BJ or a BE/BH either.

So what is it? Impreza?

SPR

came out of a 2006 legacy. sorry dont know the chassis code. the passenger side got chopped down a good 6" so it lost the vent. and the driver side got chopped about 1 inch so it lost part of the vent. other wise its just gutted. but it out of a 06 legacy...

by the way. the name of this thread is 1/4 mile civic. and i didnt really talk about the peformance of this car...

basically by summer time when this thing gets finished this car will run a low 12 second quarter mile... on the stock internals motor.

in the mean while ill be building my race block and my final motor. by summer of 2009 i plan on having this car putting out a good 300whp which will put it down in the low 10 second range.

then over the next few yrs to come, i want to break into the 9's and then the 8's making this the fastest 1st gen civic around.

so this car will have a LOT of performance even though right now its only looking like body work.

Power to weight potential is there. And I think it's an awesome project, but getting a FWD drag car to hook up at the line enough to run 8's is going to be quite a challenge.

oh trust me guys i know!! traction is going to suck! ill have some VERY exspensive slicks. traction bars. very tuned suspension, everything i can possibly do.

but ive seen it done in other fwd's, so im not to worried... yet anyway.

06 Legacy? Bah, there's barely any new Legacys around here, and I rarely see them on the forums either here or Nasioc. I wouldn't have guessed that except from hints.

the chassis codes are BL/BP, FYI

hey if theres a drag strip anywhere near boise/nampa (sp?) ill bring the car to you lol. i got family up there id like to go see and it would be fun to trailer that thing up there for some races.

ive been to boulder, i did notice a ton of subys there too haha. but i know our dealership won some sort of award for it. so i think they beat out boulder even. i got friends in boulder too. do you know brad shell? he owned the company sketch up/sketch 3d or whatever it was called, but he just sold out to google.

i dont have any current new pics. but ill post some more older ones after this post and you can browse. im not really digging into the motor work yet since i dont have my parts car i need. so that will come in the next 2 months some time.

I built one in Gran tourismo 2. went from 26 hp (?) to ~100 with a stage 3 turbo kit, and was completely undrivable. It might be 'fun' to have, but i'd be to scared to drive one in real life.

lol well im working on 2 projects at the same time right now actually. mostly this one but my 67 camaro is getting a little attention. after this is done, the camaro will get all the work and get finished. but during the camaro project ill have my legacy by then so again ill have 2 projects going at once. and possibly three cus im hoping to get my new truck, so that will need a custom built lift kit, exhaust, lots of motor work (diesel) and then the massive 44" tires and new wheels. so that will drain the pocket book. then in about 2 yrs from now i plain on swapping my gf's 79 civic motor and really starting making that car pretty girlie and ricey haha. so yet another project.

but after ALL of those are done.... the next on my list is a old school mini. then im not sure what. but were talking 10+ yrs down the road from now lol.

my goal in life, is to start a new project ever 5 yrs and have the previous one finished by then. i figure normally i would be spending 350 bucks a month on a car payment for 5 yrs. when thats done i get the car. so why not spend 350 bucks a month into my project car and in 5 yrs have it done. by the time im 50 i should have atleast 6 bad ass cars parked in my driveway. and if i ever come on hard times. i can just stop putting that 350 bucks a month into my car. unlike if u had a carpayment ur screwed. sure they wont be some brand new 2057 cadillac or something, but they will be custom and imo way cooler.

only thing that sucks is by then their probably wont be any gas lol.

so theres ya some sweet pics to drool over for a bit...

but here the update on MY car...

im prob not going to touch it for a long time... 2 weekends from now (not including this weekend) im going to start aother motor swap. the guy i bought my civic from a year ago shoots me an email and ask me if i want to make some money to come swap his 1st gen wagon for him. so how can i turn that down?

so were going to start doing that. once i get his swapped and make some cash, ill start working on mine again. im going to stop wasting my money on body work stuff and fiberglass, i want my motor running asap! so im going to save all that money i get and buy my donor car so i can get my car running and driving.

and yes dont worry, i will post lots and lots of pics of davids motor swap as we progress on it. which will be quite fast actually since money wont be holding us up! he already has all the parts, now we just need time.

The Speednation car is still the original 1200. I know Oscar Jackson did some work on the engine, and the fender flares and bodywork are some rare tomei or domei or something like that.

Seen here with bodywork repairs after Mike let his dumbass mechanic pile it into the side of a hill at a hillclimb:

"dude no that is no leaf that is a cylinder head resignator it came in the jdm models of your block it rattles around in the head and gives it like a extra 2maybe 3 hundred horsepower and it helps maintain healthy valves and protects the top of your pistons
haha"

LMAO. he's a crack up.

i think maybe this weekend my friend and i are going down to buy a 75 wagon, and the guy also has a 77 trunk model i REALLY want too if its in good shape. so we will see, might have a couple more coming soon!

wow long time no update here. maybe i should catch you guys up lol.

first off, i decided against the subaru turbo after all. there was a chance it was puking oil, so i figured it was just better to snag a new t3/t4 turbo. so that will be coming soon.

2nd, i changed my mind on my body work, decided i didnt want the custom/new age look. gonna keep it a little more stock, little cleaner, more "JDM". just a sporty clean tuner. so just as i finished my rear bumper, and damn near had the front finished, i ripped it all off!!! im going to fill in the hole in the rear, kinda like a roll pan. and on the front im going to build it from scratch. kinda the same effect a roll pan. make it smooth, no bumper at all. but im going to fabricate my intercooler into it. hopefully when its done, it will sorta look like another grill, like its suppose to be there.

This is a car i found on another forum. he has a VERY similar front end to what im talking about. but mine will flow with the cars natual body lines a little better, look a little cleaner, and of course have a gleaming front mount in it!!!

So onto the next thing.
someone needed the stock springs, so how could i resist. took em out and slammed it on the struts! ahahaha.

Before.

BUT, it cant drive on struts only for ever... so i pick me up a set of coil springs tonight.

http://img.auctiva.com/imgdata/3/3/2/6/1/0/webimg/62778883_o.jpg

they are only temporary, just so i can actaully drive the car around, play around with it, have a little fun. when i can afford my set of 1200$ adjustable coil overs i will switch over, and sell these to another 1st genist so they can slam their ride if they would like.

i ordered them tonight, hopefully they should be here in about a week, and installed shortly after that.

then im going to start the mold for my front end, and get that going.
but i cant do that untill i pick up a new set of head light bezels. which im working on tracking down a set right now.. so time will tell, and ill keep ya guys updated.

I dig the more 'utilitarian' style front and rear bumpers, like the example pic shows. Though the custom work you did was veeery nice. Are you going to leave exposed rivets like the example pic too?

It's very 80's Group-B Rally-esque, and I like it a LOT.

naa im going to keep it all shaved smooth. but i got bored, so i decided im going to start working on the front end even though i dont have everything i need right now. i built a "front mount intercooler" out of cardboard so i can see where its going to sit and how to shape/mold it the bumper to it. and that way i dont fuck up my fancy real front mount in the molding process. because it will be messy!!

so i started with taking some boxes and cutting/taping them to actual size of the front mount i plan on getting. heres my new front mount :)

27"x5.5"x2.5" should do nicely.

doesnt even come close to the cross member. theres tons of room. which room was the main concern.

i need to cut this little bastard off so it can sit foward a little more where i want it.

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/01/l_334ecf7d9240e25c48536317a143ce55-3.jpg

sorta where it will sit.

anyway i didnt get very far today at all, i got my front mount template made, and test fitted it to make sure that size of intercooler would work for me, then i had to run out to ship parts and do some errands. so maybe tomorrow ill start working on the mold.... at least i want too. we will see how busy i get. i gotta buy some new head lamp bezels though because i lost mine, and they are part of the grill/mold, so i can do much untill i get those.

more pics later.

Filled it up with foam, waiting for it to expand and dry...
also painted my "front mount" silver for a more realistic looking template HAHA. sorry i get really board some times. gotta love 20 year old cans of spray paint i find laying around!

im a fucking idiot and forgot to shake the can.... so it came out all stringy and didnt expand very well....

After shaking the can a little more..... worked a little better.

so after basically wasting 1 hole can of foam, this was the results. (yes i primered it because i was extremely bored haha.

So since i messed up the first can, it wasnt enough, so i had to run back to home depot and buy another freaking can. i shook it the entire way back to the shop. and started spraying more foam. it came out sooooo much thicker and fluffyier, like 4 times the size than before. i felt like a idiot.....

haha. but i didnt get pictures of the second stage of foam, i put it on and ran out the door for home. so ill let it dry over night, and tomorrow when i go back to the shop it will be all nice and hard and ill get pics and start sanding and shaping!!

and sorry for the crappy pictures. i brought my nice camera but left the memory card at home. so i had to use my camera phone... intelligence was just not with me today lol.
