Hey guys I need help, driving to day I started hearing some odd sounds and I'm hoping that you guys can help me find/fix them. I was driving about 45-60 and I notice that if I apply the brakes not HARD! but moderate my steering column rattles pretty loud like something is loose or to that effect at slower speeds it does it softer and I was wondering what that might be.

Also when braking like that and also going over rough road I have a plastic squeak or rattle that we thought we had boiled down to my intake on the hood but I couldn't find any screws with which to tighten it back down with. any ideas?

try having your alignment checked, or for warped rotors.. thats where i'd start.

there is a good chance your rotors are warped, that would cause the shaking. If it were an alignment issue, under breaking your car would be more likely to pull. get them machined/replaced, and it might be a good idea to do your pads at the same time.

as for the squeak, do you have any poly bushings?

working in an alignment/brake shop my first thought is wrapped rotors as well. get em turned. you should be able to get a complete brake job done for less than 100 bucks.

Throw them away and upgrade to WRX Brakes! Well, if you have 16" wheels or larger.

+12345 for the rotors. You can sometimes fix it with new pads, get a harder/higher temp resistant material, and 'rebed' the pads. If you only have deposits and not warped rotors, it can mostly fix the wheel shake.

If this is her GT, she has that option, yes.

It definitely sounds like warped rotors to me. It's a real PITA, isn't it?

+1. "Warped rotors" is often a myth, it's often just pad deposits.
