What bushing(s) need to get replaced when there is slop left to right when in gear? I can live with it but when other people drive my car it throws them off.

I did a quick search is it this one? http://www.scoobymods.com/forums/showthread.php?t=564

are the bushings the same for the BG legacys because I can only find them for 1996 and up, I have a 1995.5

Here's a diagram of the shifter linkage:

Which ones need to be replaced to get rid of the slop? D and E!

Also where can I get them for a decent price?

www.turninconcepts.com (http://www.turninconcepts.com) should have most of those bushings. Real great vendor on Nasioc.

from turn in concepts
"Updated linkage bushings will take care of a lot of it.

We don't have a kit for a model that old, but there's a link on how to rebuild it, and what to use in the legacy area on Nasioc.

-Clint"

Because it is a 1995 they don't have a "kit" for the shifter bushings. I cannot find the link that he is talking about anywhere, on nasioc.

Basically what he's saying is you have to update the linkage to a newer setup. Something like a 97+ GT or a 98+ RS.

I found the link when I went home the other day - its like $15 worth of parts to fix it. I will look it up while I am at lunch and post it for you

Just and FYI if you are talking about it having rather excessive amounts of side to side play while in gear most likely the bushing you will need to replace will be the bushings that are not labeled in this picture but are inside the tube connected to where bushings A go. Atleast thats what i needed to replace on my 95 wagon when it got like that. You can buy them from subaru for like 10-15 a piece, might as well do A while your at it.

I am doing all 4 bushings on the knuckle and the 2 bushings on the shifter itself. which ones are you talking about?

I am having a few problems

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2007/10/Shifter-1.jpg

The spring pin(green) was a pita to get out.

Also I am having problems disconnecting the Shaft coming from the transmission(gray) from the joint. you have to do this inorder to get the bolt out of the joint to replace the bushings. it is rusted on there pretty good, I tried heat and penetrating oil. I am going to try it again tomorrow.

I was thinking that I could undo the tranny mount and moving the tranny/engine over to the passenger side but I don't know the amount it will be able to move over.

Thanks in advance

are you doing the mcmaster carr bushings - take some pics. I haven't gotten around to doing this yet but I know it will suck. I have had the WRX assembly apart and it sucked. and the WRX stuff was new and clean not old rusty and filthy.

My observations for 1995 Subaru Legacy only!!!

So the project has been done since monday, I am pretty happy with the results there is still about a 1/4" of movement left to right in gear but I can live with that. I only ended up replacing 1 set of bushings(pointed to in blue).

I got the roll pin out but still couldn't get the connection undone, so I used a BFH, lol. I drilled out the u bracket so I could use a thru bolt instead of the sholder bolt. the Mcmaster nylon bushings were a little big for the 3/8 bolt and that is why I still have a 1/4" of slop.

Bump for reference when I get home since I can't view the pics at work.

This should be what I need to firm up my shifter, just seems to be a tad labor intensive.

I did this mod on my old 94 BJ last fall. I made the bushings for the blue arrow location only, out of delrin and I must say, it was more than worth the trouble. The original bushings were completly MIA.
