Which Head Gasket?

Ive seen someone post on here about the gasket sets they sell on ebay for like $80 or so. Are these any good? If not what gasket set should i look at? What is the most i should be spending? Also is there any companies i should be watching OUT for? Thanks -Nick

Gaskets I feel you should always go OEM. But for HG next time I buy I will get metal gaskets.

Use whatever you want, but if you come back on a week after saying you have oil leaks like another member just had, don't say you wern't warned. If you plan on going after market get Fel-Pro gaskets. Pepboys and Autozone carry them.

Buy OEM. The new HGs are better designed. Don't skimp on parts.
And buy new OEM headbolts.

Trust me i listen to you guys thats why im on here. I was thinking about getting the fel-pro ones becuase you dont have to torque them down(even though i will be) just in case i dont torque them right. The only thing is im not sure if the fel-pro set comes with all those gaskets. Can i order oem ones from online somewhere?

I'm not sure if they sell them online. Usually if you order a head gaskets set they give gaskets for the top end, Tb gaskets and thermo stat gasket.

Ill check and see if i can order them from subaru? As for the felpro ones im just gonna call one of the places that sells them and find out exactly what comes with it. I do know that they sell another set for $45 that says combined with the head gasket that its complete for a engine rebuild. So if i have to ill just order both for a total of about $220. If that sounds bad tell me. Thanks -Nick

Your best bet is to call around and check the prices and go from there. If them and the OEM are close in price get the OEMs. Don't skimp out, you get what you pay for.

i think im going to go with the felpro set because i found it for about $160 and it comes with all the gaskets i need. Does this sound like a good deal. I also saw this set on the autozone website for $240 so i think im getting a deal.

$160 sounds right, thats around how much it was for my neon, but I ended up getting mine for free. The guy rang up the order wrong and charged me an extra spark plug lol

yeah but im not planning on keeping this engine for so long and i dont want to have to order all my gaskets at different times, or just looking for all them. Plus someone said the fel-pro ones where OK. My $ is short and im in a hurry to try to fix my car. Also im trying to decide witch way i should go about this. One take my engine out the car witch i know is not ness.. Or i jack my engine out of the car a little bit. The only thing im worried about is lifting it up. This guy told me i could do it from the oil pan but it might bend in a little. Is There anyplace under my engine i can put some stands so when i lower it its on a sturdy area. I was thinking maybe after the head? Only cuz i dont think that partts going to bend? Thanks for the help so far -Nick
