Mer.. it is worse than I pictured from your description. :( But it is great that you were able to walk away from it.. good ole Subaru safety for the win!

Yeah thanks for the support guys. Lol that picture is so true! No subaru ever really dies...small bits of it always live on in other subarus!
I honestly don't know what to do with the car situation at this point. I have enough money to buy a nicer, faster car out of the box, but part of me still would like a car I sorta did up myself. Also, I don't really need another car right now as I still have the van to tool around in.
I was entertaining an 05-07 OBXT to swap the 6mt into lol...they look pretty good when dropped to Legacy height :)
HAHA!!!!
Dibs on the rear caliper brackets.
Thats just depressing...
Keep it for the next car. If you need help locating a rust free one here on the west coast, let me know.

Thanks again for the support guys.
I'm starting to take little pieces off the car...there's not much stock in the mechanicals, but any inside trim, etc. is up for grabs. The non OEM stuff I'll put up on a FS thread I guess. Someone already put dibs on the rear strut brace...and the doors...
Brakes and other mechanical bits are going to be coming off prob this weekend. I haven't even gone inside my stash of parts in the basement...including 3 sets of wheels. Ugh.

I'll be watching this closely. I forgot you had a ton of fun stuff on your car.

What kind of insensitive sod would dib something big like the doors right after a major accident like that?

Haha guys like my buddy Brandon. As soon he knew I was good to go and the car made it home, He's all like, "So..you know how we were talking about my needing to replace those doors?"

Wow, this car has been a feature of SLi for a long time, sad to see it go. :(
As for faster better car out of the box... Why not fix up an ol SS or something. Some old school subie speed! (I would wouldn't I...)

well, I drained the gas (now the van has half a tank lol), took off the brakes, put on donuts, and other little pieces yesterday. I'll post up stuff in the near future I guess...

"He lived"....
Subaru commercial anyone?
Anyway Ben, this is nuts. Sorry you lost the car, but glad you are ok. You should definitely get back into a Subaru, maybe something like a white 98 L with high compression motor?

Thanks, I think I'll be getting another subaru in the next couple of months. It won't be as big a project at this car...something I can keep for a couple of years.
Looking for a manual Forester XT, or outback XT now. Though there are a handful of Spec B's on LGT...hmm is this a sign?
Well, you said you put a down payment on something... If I recall, your words were "It's white and a 5spd."
So... What is it?
rougeben83
06-07-2014, 08:21 AM
oh, its an 05 OBXT :). Been fiddling it with all week...and steadily gathering parts for it!
Sweet! So, no need to get rid of any of your wheels!

Sad to see this car gone, such a great build. Glad to hear you're okay.
Now for the part vulture-ing
IPD rear sway bar?
STi front strut brace (I know you said the rear was spoken for but not the front)
What lightened crank pulley did is it?
Skid plate
JDM Bilsteins
This is more of an inquiry for prices than anything. Good luck with the part out and OBXT!

I ended up with both of his strut bars.

I think the RSB got bent in the crash, so I wouldn't sell it. The skidplate is still in limbo. The crank pulley is going with the engine:
However, I have a spare set of JDM bilsteins and RSK springs that Im planning to sell... $400.

Do the bilsteins have the spring perch on the rear that can be flipped over for use in wagons?
I believe they do, from looking at Rkrenicki's.

I finally got around to getting a closer look at the rear suspension. It looks like the trailing arm took the brunt of the impact, everything else looks good... The rsb and endlinks are in good working order, I'm going to reuse the endlinks in my OBXT...
Just sent you a PM. Not a parts request per se, more a parts information request, to maybe help me get something that your car has... but yours is broken.

after some cutting and grinding, the rear diff, driveshaft , and one rear axle are out. Other one is too rusted for me to care about salvaging.
I have bought a cherry picker and a transmission jack... Almost time to remove the guts of this thing.
In other news...I think I've made around $2200 parting out the car. Planning on having the shell out of the garage by the end of the month.

I would take the 6 speed off your hands, but... the shipping... sigh... :(

Yeah, I guess I was really attached to this car - kept rationalizing why to keep it. Anyway, I'm dragging it out of the garage then taking off the rack and control arms - those are the last bits to go off the car.
And who said anything about the 6 speed being on sale? :faroah:

even though i've seen it in person, its still hard to believe that is your car. I hope the replacement treats you well.

I think it was just a Home Depot lip.

Somehow I still keep going back to this tread... I didn't realize I never updated this about the rad Outback front fenders. Wide body yo!
T'was officially the last modification I ever did before the car met its fate.
