So i found a transmission and the only thing stopping me for getting it is deciding on driving to Raleigh NC to pick it up, or ship it. Has anyone shipped anything like this? Also, how much do you think a 5spd tranny weights?
thanks,

I'm assuming you would probably have to ship it in a crate. Never sent one myself.. but my friend just got one .. it was in a huge crate.. and some special company will probably have to ship it for you. How far of a drive is it? I would drive if its not too far / gas costs dont exceed shipping costs.

i mapquested it and it said 8 hrs, which isnt too bad.. but dont know if i really feel like driving.. it all depends on the price of shipping..

Shipping will probably be anywhere from $200-300 is what I would be guessing. Shipping engines is like $300 crate-style .. so.. transmission.. maybe you can make an estimate based on that. You would have to go through some freight company or something.Hmm.. maybe you can do a google search for people selling trannys.. then see who they ship through and see what their prices are.

You might try Grey Hound Express. I don't lnow what there wieght and size limits are. I gotten a hood and header shipped with them. Pretty cheap if your not looking for next day service.

I had a full interior and tranny shipped here from NC for my CRX. Shipping was $175. It was on 2 pallets wrapped with plastic wrap.
