WRX Fronts only.. how bad is it?

My brakes are in die of need of replacing.. and since I have WRX fronts and braided brake lines sitting in the garage.. I'd like to do the swap.

However, I don't have rear brakes/calipers or anything.. well, I do, but they aren't in any condition to put them on. Also, I'm not 100% sure if the rear Outback rotors hub size is the same as the BD's. My concern is the parking brake engagement inside the rotor hub.. I haven't seen any info regarding that.

Anyhow, most importantly, if I just swap out the front for the WRX and the braided lines.. but leave the rear stock until spring 2008.... will that effect anything.. like the front/rear bias?

You're going to need the front calipers, mounting brackets, pads, and rotors. I'm not sure weather or not the calipers are the same or not. But, if your front brakes are as bad as mine, might as well get new calipers and pads. :)

Aren't WRX front calipers 2 pot's? The rotor may be larger but I don't know. It shouldn't make a difference. 4pots are a different story, I wouldn't worry about front/rear bias with a WRX upgrade.

You should be fine. If you feel that you want more bite in the rear, throw on some more aggressive pads.

The parking brake setup is identical on H6 & regular brakes, as are the calipers & pads. The only difference is the rotors & caliper brackets.

you will noticeably shift bias forward but that is better than sucky brakes

They are 2. The way the calipers fit in the bracket is different on the newer brake setups, IIRC. You can run a 2004+ legacy front caliper in a WRX bracket, or vice versa, but you can't run a 1995 Legacy front caliper in a WRX bracket.

The diameter is what makes the difference in this case. :lol:

just to verify...

I picked up my LGT in late november and it has pretty much been sitting at my friends house. Needs brakes, body work, etc... so its a fixer. First thing I am looking to attack is the brakes. If I wanted to upgrade my front and rear 97 LGT brakes to WRX, what exactly do I need to do this?

-Calipers
-Rotors
-Pads
-Mounting Brackets

Anything else? Can I use LGT SS lines or do I need to find some WRX ones?
