Well I got my '97 GT and it didn't come w/ a remote and I'm not sure if it even had one previously.
Well I start the car and it locks automatically. I've already had the keys locked inside 2 times and with winter coming I don't want to leave a door open or window down to warm it up.
Anyone know if there is a fix for this or if it came w/ a remote how can I find out and where to get one relativly descent price.
Peace

Hehe, sounds like it probably had an aftermarket system on it, then.. Have you had someone look at your wiring yet?

My wifes 97 OB has nad Ungo alarm that does that. It can be infuriating. You need to find out if it is an alarm or not. If it is you should be able to get a remote for it.

My 95 was similar to that, but if you shut the door without holding up the door handle the lock would pop on the drivers door so that you wouldn't run into the problem of locking the keys in the car. But if you held the handle up as you closed the door, it locked.
Maybe you could see if yours operates this way...

Problem is that I'm not sure how to find out if it had a remote system.
Would there be a control box or something under the dash??

Should be the same on all BD/BG/BK's with the holding the door up thing.
Yeah, I would think there is a control box somewhere up in there, if its aftermarket.

You could have a remote starter instead of an alarm. My remote starter will automaticall lock and unlock the doors. Usually the control box is under the dash (really the only place to fit one under there is on the left) A telltale sign of a autostart is a button under the hood near one of the headlights (usually the drivers)

Mr. Soul
Why not just run to your local hardware store and get a few DUPLICATE keys made ? Then you can lock the car with the keys in it and still not be locked out. Also you might want to try mounting a hider key in/on your car as an extra safety measure.

Still can't figure it out, so when I save up some cash I'm going to take it to get a new alarm / car starter installed. If there is any aftermarket system it will get removed.
A remote starter will be nice in the winter since the trans likes to be warm before running smooth.
