OK Well I got my engine back in and um yeah. Im pulling it again today because I messed up on one cam bolt witch i think is making it run funny. I didnt drive it because i dint want to hurt anything. My bolts are in at Subaru so im going to pick those up and do it all today. Since i already have been through my first painstaking engine removal i dont think this will take too long. Plus i just need to lift it up to take my drivers side valve cover off. So my questions are.

1.) Do I need to drain my oil if im just taking the valve cover off. I just put new oil in witch would suck, but quick flush prob wouldn't hurt

2.)Do i NEED to use Subaru coolant for the time being. Is it more $$ and will it hurt if i dont. Can i just run some valucraft for a few weeks until i get some money?

3.) While im doing somestuff i was wondering if i should take those two front hooks off that apparently makes ur airbags go off. Also if i did this how hard is it?
Thanks -Nick

# 1 - It ought to be ok unless you dump metal shavings in there, or all the oil dumps out.

# 2 - I've been using prestone or peak or something in mine after replacing the water pump and it's been fine. Might be more important on a DOHC since they ought to have that coolant conditioner.

# 3 - That's a good idea, you'd need an air powered cutoff wheel to get it off i would think. A dremel could probably do it if you're patient and have a large enough cutoff disc. A dealer would probably do it for free since it's recalled.
