Smoking?

So i started my car today for the first time and after a few mins it started sounding normal again.( JUST Changed Head Gaskets) I had my friend pick up some sealant from autozone and i told him to get what it says in the service manual.(Three bond 1215 or equivalent) Im pretty sure now he got me the wrong thing because now its melting and smoking from the spots u have to put on the valve cover. I cant see anything but its smoking from those areas and smells more like plastic. Whats will this do? Can i let it burn off or will this hurt something? If i do have to redo can i take the valve covers off while its in the bay? Im not taking this thing out again, my back hurts and my hands need a rest. Has anyone ever done this?...probably not.

maybe excessive left over oil? you said plastic smell...so...hm. i say clean everything real good and try again.

It could also be that i did spill oil and some coolant while refilling my fluids but im pretty sure its coming from the seal areas by the timing belt cover. I dont know what burning silicone smells like but im pretty sure this is it because ive never smelled something so funky :-(
