my plastic underguard no longer clears. You know that big plastic cover with the pain in the ass sliding panels? Winter is nearly here and I'd like the salt/dirt protection for my under engine. These panels even wrap up around the wheel well to deflect anything the tires may throw. The header primaries off the left bank have a good deal of interference with the plastic guard. Does everyone just abandon the plastic guard? I'd hate to cut it but the thought of not having it is just as bad. I know there are aftermarket aluminum panels but they are pricey, perhaps panels from another Suby will clear? What have you all done?

Along with the header I replaced the stock muffler with a flowmaster 40 series I had lying around. The boxer rumble is great! and NO interior resonance (which almost always happens with 40 series, but the stock cats are probably muffling it quite a bit). At idle it is noticeable but not loud at all, above 3k or so it can get a bit loud but even then nothing that will wake the neighbors - sounds clip when I feel less lazy, I just spent 4 hours cutting and welding to make it all work and fit perfect. An added bonus was since the 40 series is about half as thick as the stock muffler I was able to hang it just a bit lower and now the exhaust pipe no longer bumps the 22mm swaybar on bad roads.

Cut the undertray.

Your best protection against the salt/dirt is to actually spray underneathe the car once a week... the undertray is great at first, but eventually it will trap salt and dirt if you neglect it.

I cut the undertray and replaced a leaking axleback connection gasket.

Here is a vid clip, this is before the axleback gasket was replaced but I don't think it is noticeable in the vid. Unfortunately googlevideo seems to have degraded the sound quality quite a bit.... http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid ... 0643785086 (http://video.google.com/videoplay?docid=8853610830643785086)
it sounds a bit different in person, very mean sound and a bit louder than what I wanted but I can't help but crack the window so I can listen to that sweet boxer growl.

Ditto, that sounds REAL nice. Any noticable performance gains?
