Tho we had been together through some good/bad times for 5 years, then let him go to my sis-in-law who took care of him for 3..... I would'nt give up the chance to have him home again. He's a well known and well loved family member and we're happy he's back! Welcome home Eet!

Ok.... all the huggy/kissy B/S aside.... He's starting to show his age a little, on the outside. 3 spots of minor cancer, so we're thinking... maybe a lil plastic surgery in the future. On the bright side, all the major maintenance has been done recently with very low wear/tear since. I've also updated the "Mods list" a little. Anyhow, this was the old pics/intro (save for me deleting some old pics) Recent pics following the "up on stands" pic. Enjoy.

I purchased it April 2004 totaled! I rebuilt it, and it was originally meant for Teh Missus. In '05 we bought her an '05 Scion XB, and I sold my 96GT wagon that had 169k on it for this which had 58k and the BK became my daily. Not content with leaving things the way they are, I started small like everyone else. Even customizing and plastic welding a set of BE sideskirts to fit. Then some changes came about while I browsed the boards and became familiar with the Subaru marque.

Many a day I've had like some other members here. Car up on jackstands and parts and pieces everywhere. The end result here, was the big brake upgrade which I fell in love with.

Removal and Upgradeof the total suspension and brakes on this car was fairly easy but had it's trivial moments.

When I let it go, it had 120k give or take. Rebuilt it at 138k. Both heads/timingbelt/waterpump/thermostat/ and other sensors and odds and ends. What I got it back with.

Very nice, I never knew a 00 rear bumper fits on the BK. You sure it wasn't a 99? Or am I missing the Outback crossover?

Anyway keep it up, the snow is coming soon!

I didn't know that the 03 Outback came w/ 15" factory alloys. Thought they were only available in 16s.

Looks like the bumper is a perfect fit. Good to know.

It's not an 00 bumper. It's the stepguard that sits on top of the bumper I believe - the black rubber part.

Slick wagon.

I need to get moving on some things to keep up with people!

I saw your car on Nasioc earlier and commented. Again very nice. Are you sure that isn't a BG Outback bumper?

I think those rims are from a BG (2nd gen) Outback as well. I think all the 00+ Outbacks had 16's, I could be wrong though.

Looks great though, and welcome to SL-I!

You are right. I copied this from an ad when it was for sale

I was too lazy to re- write it all, so I copied and pasted it, and then deleted some. A little too much editing. I'll change it.

The same car I got the sideskirts from, I got the wheels off of. It was a 2 tone model with outter door panels. The bodystyle following mine (sorry, I dont know a BK from a BD or any other letter designation at the moment. Gimme some time tho.) It had different headlights as well, if that helps. Matter of fact, didn't even take the dogleg filler for the sideskirts. Look closely.

The car was hit in the nose dead center. I figured I'd go for the wheels 1st. The L's factory 14's were'nt cutting it.

These are the wheels that came off that car. And for some reason, they're are the same exact style that was on my 96 GT when I got that also. Which brings me to something else. My GT didn't come with a hood scoop and it was never in an accident. Can someone explain that one? Other than the usual "Added Options"?

Yes, It is a "BG" 99 Rear bumper. I fixed the mix up. I had to check the receipt.

The skirts and wheels are off the same car. I can't explain why, because the car was at the salvage yard. But I do know this because I was the one who pulled everything off. I got everything for $300- 4 wheels w/tires and lugs (y not) + pair of sideskiirts and hardware (which I didn't use)

My sideskirts should give anyone here an idea what year this car was, as I'm not caught up to SL-I or body designations yet.

But seriously, I don't know why these wheels were on that car. It was a good deal IMO, so I went with it. The car looked identical to his with the exception, the other was a wagon.

Thanks Dodik.

I appreciate the "corrections". I had to shorten the sideskirts and plastic weld them back together, fill and smooth them. I'm a firm believer in, "If they don't make it, then you make it".

I've been involved with autobody for over 18 years (I was 16 sweeping floors). Sometimes I can't even remember what I had for breakfast when I walk in the shop.

Guilty...

I noticed the side skirts are the same like dodiks, I was confused on the rear bumper at first.

Anyway try not to take anything to heart what most of us say. Like dodik says we can be pretty passionate about Subarus and like to pass on that knowledge. Sometimes internet talk can make you (you in general) an asshole. I'm guilty of that one too, but it might be true

I know. None taken. You know I was going crazy that morning with all the errands and stuff going on.

Anyways, Anyone else who would like to try (newer mode sideskirtsl) it there's somethings you should know.

1- They're aren't a direct fit. you'll have to section off about 1" or so. I just did the end cap to look a little cleaner.

2. Having a plastic welding kit is very helpful, as you would have to weld the end cap back into place to screw it back onto the body.

3. If you like you mud flaps, this is not for you. I could use the rears still, but the fronts would have needed to be trimmed. I liked them without.

I'll try to get close up pics to show what I'm describing.

Where'd you find the leather seats and door cards? Local junkyard out of a totaled one, or buy them?

Nice car as well. I didn't know 3rd gen. OB had those rims though, or any BE/BH to be honest. I thought they were 2nd gen.

Thanks, but I was thinking they'd contrast the factory lip (which at the time, I wanted to leave black) and the center piece under the rear bumper. I need to bring it back into the shop and strip it down. I was thinking of 2 toning the car. Black pearl on top/ Factory red pearl on bottom.

At first, I read this as you can't wait for me to get rid of my car

But, yeah, I fell in love with the 2 chops too. If I still have it in 2 weeks, (basically my time frame to buy the other project) this seems like the route I'll be taking. The black would be done with a base of Honda Black off the S2000 and me custom mixing in some ruby pearl into it. I've done a test panel (4 to be exact) and finally came up with something I was exited to do.

It won't be a Legacy, but I can give you a hint:

It's Euro and basically what I've been hunting down for about 4 years now.

It won't be as reliable as my L ('cause nothing ever could be), but not 1 of you badass, hooked up, dyno killing Scoobies  could see my tailights. I could buy it now, but I have no place to put it due to property management rules :-( . Too many cars, plus Teh Missus isn't trying to hear us paying insurance for 3 cars and a bike and still living in a condo.

Getting better pics, but just some pics of the project.

While I was working yesterday, I managed to get some things done on my car. I re-painted my front lip, finished mocking up my grill and straitening out some other odds and ends.

Initially, HotBoxer sold me his BD grill.

Obviously, It wouldn't fit. I used the mesh and STi badge on it. I carefully removed the inside and re-attached it to mine using a urethane-like bonding glue.

Someone borrowed my Kicker ZR360 one night last week, and never returned it. :smt092:

.....So, I had to replace it.

I didn't want to over do it, so I started off with the this Sony and a 10" SoloBaric for bass. I'll clean it up more with a wall and a rack, but for today, It's good.

I wonder what that front bumper would look like with the middle lower section blacked out or modified to remove that portion, open the radiator up to more air.

Edit, quick chop:

I'm talking about the one Huffer chopped. Cut that middle section out of there and you could probably rig something up to mount fog lights on. Sorry for the confusing wording.

No. My cousin does'nt agree with Mass being "The Spirit of America", so he bent it. Something about the Pilgrims stealing from Indians he said.

No. My cousin does'nt agree with Mass being "The Spirit of America", so he bent it. He also bent his, top and bottom on his "Tarmac Killing" Evo. I liked it, so I left it alone. Something about the Pilgrims stealing from Indians he said. ...and No, I haven't gotten any issues about having it bent.... yet. :smt023 Cops around here are like the New England weather; Wait a few minutes, and they'll change.
