I'm not sure if any of yall have experienced this or not, but everytime my car gets thoroughly wet, the engine will hardly run. (this includes washing AND rain) My first thought was that something electrical had gotten wet, and needs to be covered or something. (i'm obviously new to legacys), but i have no idea. The problem generally goes away after about 5-10 min of careful driving, but as the car has practically NO response and has a gurgling sound coming out of the exhaust, it annoys me to no end. Especially since this is a Subaru
Any knowledge that you could share with me on this problem would be great

(just a side note, i'm pretty sure the water is just coming in thru my hood scoop)

Did you remove the hood scoop plate? Your knock sensor might have a crack in it and gets wet when you wash your car or if it rains hard. Mine did the same thing.

Ok, can you explain both of those parts?? I'm just starting to learn things about my car, so yeah... Is there supposed to be anything other than the black plastic surround on the inside of the scoop?? and where is the knock sensor located (man, i need someone to teach me stuff haha)

This same question was asked a few months back. There's pics in the thread too. The plat under the scoop is black and metal. And the knock sensor is under the throttlebody. Get a Haynes manual if you can, it is very helpful.
