Ok here's the lowdown. 99 Legacy BD, recently installed KYB struts and H&r springs. Upon installation the rear springs fit very loose when mounted i.e I can move them when theres no load on them. Im not sure if this is a common issue with the combo im using but I figure when the weight of the car is on them whats the big deal? Anyway, only the left side rattles alot and before I waste a day replacing the top hats(which in hindsight should have been done anyway) Does anyone have a similar issue? Or are there any suggestions? thanks

P.S the swaybar bushings were just replaced so that has been ruled out. Perhaps the links? there doesnt seem to be any play in them though.

Depends on the rattle, what kind of a rattle is it? I could move my springs when it wasn't under load. One of the springs looked like it came off it's seat and popped back in. I had the same set up and I had a bad rattle up front which was my strut mount.

its probably that you didn't tighten the nut at the top of the strut down enough.

Either an air compressor or a vice grip holding a 15mm socket with an allen going through should do the trick.

if you can move the springs when the car is jacked up its just cause there's no preload on the springs. In practice, it doesn't make any difference, but me i wouldn't run anything where the spring could get out from between the spring perch and seat. You can compress the spring an stick an extra rubber bumper on it if you want.

Yes the number was upside down, they did not seat correctly the other way.

Maybe because the H&R springs you're using aren't designed for the BD.. this is what H&R said to me when I called inquiring about springs for a BD.

They don't make them.
