Help me with Transmission choices!

Hey SL-I,

I drive a 98' Legacy GT. Getting a 04' USDM WRX swap, and looking for a stronger than USDM tranny to put into my car. So I'm looking to buy a JDM transmission that will go right in without, or with the least additional parts. What year JDM Legacy, or Impreza transmissions would work? Additional information would be great!

It may be cheaper to have your transmission rebuilt with an RA gearset, or at least 1st, 2nd, and maybe 3rd gears since they're the ones that get hit the hardest and normally seem to break.

I'm pretty sure your tranny would be fine with the 04 wrx swap.. as i was looking into doing the same thing. Just get a stage 2 clutch and you should be fine. The gearing on the Legacy tranny is actually better than the wrx one, from what i hear. Where you getting the swap done? Hit me up via pm, I can give you some info on where you could get a JDM tranny if you want. I think the b4 tranny would be good.
