Ahhhhhh leak!!!!!!

I went out to go to work this morning and my passengerside floor board was full of water. I watched it for a little bit and it just drips from the lower right corner of the dash. Its pouring the rain so i didnt get a real good look at it to try and see where its coming from. It doesnt look like the windshield is leaking, nor does it seems to be coming in around the door. Anyone ever have a leak around this area? Any quick fix i could do until i get home from school (in a week or two) to fix it completely?

No i havent replaced the windshield recently.

Your heater core is right under the dash on the passenger side and it uses the water from the engine to heat the air.

Check the water levels in your radiator?

Also check the drains at the base of the windshield on the outside. If you look through the grate area by the wipers on each side there are drain holes. if they get blocked they can cause water to get in.

any issues with your sunroof?

Also for me I had problems with water draining from the rocker pannel. I ended up drilling holes in the bottom of them so they wont hold any water. If they do hold water I found that the water gets in to your floor boards.

Thats due to a bad seal around the antenna or a bad seal around your tail lights. Go grab some Black Jack (rubber caulking) from a hardware store and caulk around the lights and then remount them.

It fixed my water problems in my trunk.

There are also some plugs you can open to drain that water out.

holy...the antenna? never came to my attention it was that. And i have JDM taillights, they are sealed without a doubt...but then again :neutral:

I guess your trunk lid seal could be bad too or your wing seals.

Here is some pics i took. I believe its probably coming from this piece of windshield seal missing. I drove for a couple hundred mile trip in the pouring rain, so thats maybe how it got on the headliner. then it sat for a day in the pouring down rain, so im sure thats where it just ran down and into the floor. could be wrong though, let me know what you think. the seat could not have anything to do with sealing.

Anyone know if i can get this seal?

It's about $100 or so from a dealer or windshield repair place.

You can also try to see if RTV windshield sealant or something equivalent can act as a temporary plug for that area. Try to get some of the sealant underneath the remaining and around the remaining seal to make sure you don't miss any small crevice or something...

is that 100 dollars for a whole windshield seal? as in the outside area that you can see and that little inner piece?

Make sure the area is totally dry before installing the new piece, or plugging the hole... condensation = internal rust

Check your sunroof drain tube hose(i assume you have a sunroof) I know this is a way old thread, but it has been raining today and I have been dealing with this exact same problem all day. If it is not the drain tube for the sunroof, at least this will let you see the problem at its source. Take off the passenger side sun visor, should be 3 phillips head screws, and remove the oh shit handle, its 2 large phillips head screws.. Next I took off the a-pillar cover, I should say snapped off, I think i may have broke one tab, so be careful. this will give you enough room to pull down the passenger side roof liner without creasing it, look at the corner of the sunroof and it should have a hose attached to a nipple. If the hose is attached and not leaking, check the back side of the window , you will be able to see where it adheres to the chassis. You can use a garden hose to check for leaks if you dont have the pleasure of the rain. I also have a pic of the said hose if you need it.
Hope this helps anyone who is having water leak in their passenger foot well when it rains.

Where do you seal around the tail lights.. the very edges or what? I know when i got my tail lights they had black stuff around them that pressed against the body.. probably should put a bit more on them when i get a new one to replace my broke ass JDM treasure. haha.

i seal up the edges of the tail lights, the center piece, and the holes around the spoiler. it was a mess, at first i thought it was leaking from the antenea mass..

Crappy pic, but if you look closely you can see the hose leading into the sun roof, and it will attach to a nipple.

I had the same issue and blew the drain hose clean and it seems to of fixed the one spot, but the gasket seems to need replacing now. The issue is that it seems to be part of the sunroof glass. It is leaking on the back side center of the sunroof where the gasket meets the metal. Tried some black silicone but it looks like a temporary fix. Anyone know where you can get just the gasket that is attached to the glass?

What fixed mine was the drain hose on the passengerside front was completely off where it hooked to the sunroof. Hooked it back up and ziptied it on there so it wont come off again.

my sunroof gasket is going too. Anybody replaced this? How much did it cost?

Just FWIW, the sunroof gasket is not what is letting the water into your car.
The drains are there within the headliner, so obviously, it is never intended to be a water tight seal.
What was the case on both my 95 and 91 sunroofs were the silicone UNDER the rails of the sunroof had deteriorated so badly, it was sucking the rain water into the car like a wick and dumping it into the headliner.
The only real way to fix this is to drop the whole sunroof assembly down, take it out of the car and remove the rails the sunroof slides on. Under the rails is all that bad silicone, you have to scrape the old stuff off, clean it really well and then lay some nice thick beads of new silicone before re attatching the rails.
I did this, and no more leaks. 100% waterproofed. It's a good 3-4 hour job though, because removing all the interior trim and pulling the assembly out is just tedious, not necessarily difficult.

I just used a tube of bathroom silicone I had lying around, so this fix cost me nothing. Just some sore fingers.
