Anyone know why 3rd party short throw shifters look like this:
http://www.allwheelengineering.com/bask ... B-001-1997 (http://www.allwheelengineering.com/basket/catalog.cgi?query_net_id=kartboy&query_class=KB-001-1997)

and the OEM SPT short throw shifter looks like this:
http://www.subarupartsforyou.com/cp_par ... artid=1836 (http://www.subarupartsforyou.com/cp_partdetail.php?partid=1836)

It looks to me like the OEM comes with a lot more hardware.

Yeah, but the OEM comes with more price tag.

honestly, I'm not sure why. One thing that comes to mind is the fact that maybe Subaru re-bent the shifting rod, where as the Kartboy shifter just raises the pivot point of the shift rod.

I've got a Kartboy short shifter and haven't really noticed any ill effects. I also have the front shifter bushings. Its a nice combo.

I do have the rear cushion for the shifter, but thats set aside for my 6MT conversion...and I have the front bushings for that too. In due time.
