Ok so hopefully when I get some new wheels in spring/summer '08, I'd like for the stance to be a little bit wider, but without the use of spacers. And I'm not really looking to pay a whole lot on wheels either (ie. big-lipped wheels) I was planning to go with '06 Spec.Bs but my mind will probably chance later on. Any suggestions?

So basically you're looking for wider wheels, or wider tires?

You can usually mount 225width tires on a 7" wide rim...

A set of Rotas is fairly inexpensive, and they will rock from 17x7.5 to 18x8 or even 18x8.5.

Be careful if you're lowering the car though.

Yeah I guess just wider wheels, but I want them to be amost flush with the side of the car. Pretty much right now, my wheels sit more towards the inside of the wheel well. I'd like to get 18s prefferably so I think 8in wide should be sufficient

That should be all you need. This works for your Legacy (not just the STi as mentioned)

Wider rim + lower offset. The Rota Attacks I had (7.5" w 48 offset) really filled out the wheelwell with Azenis 215's on them.

Thanks for the diagram! Isn't the lowest offset I can go for the Legacy like 48 or something?

you can go lower offset, you just may run into some rubbing issues.

although, if you want the wheels/tires flush with the side of the car, chances are you'll run into rubbing issues anyways. wider wheel with high offset is going to be basically the same as running a narrower wheel with lower offset when it comes to being flush with the fenders. (other than the fact that the wider wheel will sit closer to the strut body whereas the narrower wheel obviously won't) rolling your fenders would most likely eliminate the rubbing problem though.

offset is just the distance the mounting surface is offset from the centerline of the wheel.
