Over the summer, my exhaust basically took a crap. I never got around to fixing it, because....well for one, I liked the sound and I just didn't feel like spending the money, especially with having to put exhaust on the wife's Outback.
Monday, I had my struts and mounts replaced, then Tuesday I had a 2 inch custom bent cat-back installed. (Inspection time, didn't have any choice, had to be done. :grin: ) Now, it rides a good bit better, and it's surprisingly QUIET now. Even under WOT. The whistle that used to come at higher revs is gone (well, couldn't hear it once the pipe broke behind the resonator, anyway) and it's just quiet overall. Wasn't paying attention the first day, looked down and I was doing 70ish......last week, I could tell by sound if I was over 60.......
Oh, and the "wish I'd have known sooner" part..... the 2 inch custom bent and welded cat-back, INSTALLED only cost me about 1/2 what I paid for STOCK REPLACEMENT parts and put them on myself for the wife's Outback......wish I'd have taken her car there instead of spending more and messing with it myself..... (and yes, I did shop around before buying her parts, dealership and after-market were pretty close to the same for pre-bent, bolt it on stuff......)
