What airline do you work for? My dad works for AirTran and used to work for USAirways (not crew though, res. and now IT), so I've been an airline brat my whole life

I work for Mesaba, we do Northwest Airlink as a first officer on the Saab 340B+. I am the first person in my family to work for the airlines, but I have been working for the airlines as a baggage handler for 3.5 years. I tossed bags for American Eagle, United and Northwest.

I have already gotten sick of people poking fun at my plane. All my buddies who fly jets call it the cuisinart. I have had passengers ask me "When was this plane made, the 1930's?" Our last Saab was deivered in 1999 I think. When I was preflighting and spinning the props through checking the blades, I had a guy ask "So there boy, are you winding the rubber-bands?" Not cool!

You should have replied "No, I'm waking up the hamster. There's one in each engine. Be kind to the hamster, or you will wind up in Florida instead of (your destination here)."

I'd kick ass to fly a 340. I flunked school, though, so no go.

I love doing this job......when I get to fly!! Oh well, I have been hanging out with several of the guys that I went to Saab Class with. They have a sweet house just outside of Ann Arbor. I think that we might be having a little fun here when we are not sitting reserve.

Oh, I was reading a pilot forum and they were talking about a Memphis Captains responce to a passenger with an iPhone, who told the pilot that the weather was good enough to depart. His responce was classic. He said "To the passenger with the iPhone, if you think that you could call the tower, talk to our dispatch, come up here and fly this multi-million dollar plane, take the responcibility for all 120 passengers back there, and don't forget to cordinate all that with the 20 other planes waiting to depart, go for it!" All the other passengers were laughing at the passenger!!

dude no way!! haha i work turboprops for the USAF... what model engine are you guys running? people talk shit all the time about our motors... they think its a piston engine driving a prop when its actually a jet engine... we used to get made fun of by all the guys working on fighters until they found out that you had to have higher test scores to work on our motors... that and we can work on their engines whenever we want, but they have to go back to school to learn our job lol
