 I had a remote start with door lock actuator installed (professionally) for Christmas. It worked fine for a few days; now my wife is stuck out of town while I am at work(24 hr.) because the damn thing malfunctioned! She pushed the start button and the alarm started to go off (car didn't start) and she could not get it to stop honking. She finally got in car and tried to start it with the key. Well, the alarm stopped but the car wouldn't start and as soon as she opened the door the alarm went off again.
The fob works to unlock the doors but it doesn't disable the alarm.
I am in desperate need of help!
Tomorrow, I am driving up to meet her and I have no idea how to fix this problem.

Sounds like the auto start function has messed up - does your car have a factory immobilizer built in?

Normally auto start systems don't play nice with factory immobilizers.

There should be a switch under the dash somewhere to deactivate the module. That should at least get you buy for now i would think, unless some wires are shorted out.

immobilizer  I don't have a clue! I have read the blogs on the key-less remote programing and seen the pictures of the "switch" under the dash, I will try this first, but if it does have this immobilizer I don't know if resetting the door locks will help.
Well, thanks for the tips
I am on my way to make the 2 hr. drive and get my wife (hopefully my car too). I will bring my laptop so I can check back in if I have any problems.
