Hey guys,

Even though the front windows are all the way up in the subie, they still sound like they're down a quarter inch. I've played around with not putting them up 100% and what not and it's still audible, just different pitches.

Anyone else have/had this problem at all? Maybe I'm over-looking something before I start tearing the doors apart?

most complain that it's the side mirrors, or a torn gusset behind the mirror where it meets the door. I don't recall havening that noise.

I know when I had my 2003 Forester XS it was the gusset where the side mirror was and after you pulled on it, it worked fine again you closed the door a few times.

Mine makes the sound but i think its the vent visor because my aunties outlander does the same thing.

I had the same problem on the driverside door, there was a leak on the top edge of the mirror and the window I pinched the rubber/metal and the wind sound stopped.

I have the exact same problem. Push the molding right by the mirror while driving, it will make the noise go away. So it's a molding issue. new door moldings would cure it.

with the window down, you can pinch the window molding(there is thin sheet metal inside) and it will fix it for a little while, mine has not made noise since.

because the doors are frame less once the door trim rubber gets old and dry it allows more air through it and it has a wisping sound.

just check the door trim and the rubber around the mirror part hope this helps.

+1, easy fix... as long as there is no physical damage to the seal.

I have the same wind noise issues in my \leg and wife's Outback. I also had the same issue with mu Bugeye - the dealer adjusted something and it completely went away. I got to find out what they did.

I took care of the gusset TSB on my '02 Legacy tonight. Just wanted to share a comparison of the new (left) verses the 10+ year old one on the right.

Don't know why I didn't do this sooner! Huge improvement. Easy R&R
