Hi.. So I am a good friend of Deadlydave, he sold me his old legacy, with known to be bad CV-joints and Front Diff Input Bearing...

So I was like cool, Fixed it up a little bit and drove it for 4 months/7,000miles

225/50r16 filled the gaps of the fender WAY better than the 205/55r16s

Well Just 2 weeks ago the front CV finally died, so I pulled the shafts out and stuck the cups back in on both sides, and drove it around in just RWD for a day... OMG is that fun... Unfurtunatly, after I stopped having fun in RWD, i was on my way home easy, not beating her, and the rear diff started making a clunk every second, then it sped up. I got onto my road and started going up my hill and she died...

So Anyways, I realy fell inlove with this car... It was my 5th subaru, my first was a '98 Outback Sport, then a 1990 Loyale Wagon 4x4, then a 1985 GL-Turbo Wagon Dual-range 4x4, then My 05 2.5rs that is in the first picture... So I thought I could try to fix this car and drive the RS in the mean time.. I ended up getting a car thats pretty damn smashed up, and was going to use it for parts....

Well anyways I crawled under to look @ the rear diff and I noticed, there is NO rust underneath compared to the sedan... Also, all the dents are on the Doors or fenders (swappable from the sedan) So I changed my mind, I am going to fix the Wagon up, get the Unibody painted to match the Sedans body parts... Dave keeps telling me to go flat black, But I just painted my RS flat black.. I dont need 2 flat black cars...

So yesterday I began sanding and Primering the Wagon...

A set of JDM tails (need to figure what to do with the center garnish)

BTW...... Does anyone know how to remove the trim from ABOVE the windows? I tried prying on it, but I dont want to break anything...

you want to get a tow hitch???Eww... Way heavy too. Interested in seeing where this goes. Dave's red 'roo was very nicely done I think. I say slap those 5 spoke RS wheels on to the wagon. I did notice an automatic tranny, 5speed and EJ20R swap? That's the JDM twin turbo legacy motor. You already have right hand drive :twisted:

Ok.. so today I confirmed the paint code, and Ordered paint ;)

If you pull the rubber/foam door trim it will expose the under side of the trim and you will see phillip screws through the underside. Make sure all screws are off before you get pull happy. There will be one all the way at the bottom that will almost be hidden. The rubber/foam just slips out a channel.

Cool, i decided I must be missing something, I saw the screw @ the end... Fords often have 1 screw then a bunch of pull clips.. I hate being a ford tech, it taints my mind...

When I parted my GT EVERYTHING came off. I left all the glass and the 4EAT. I wish I pulled those too. Anyway it's fun and educational to part out a car. You can see what is what and how it comes off and go back on.

yep thats the plan.. the underside of the Sedan looks pretty bad... where as the wagon has almost no rust on it at all, except on the doors and fenders from hitting stuff...

And I hit a stop sign that killed the left rear fender and bumper pretty good...

I am pretty sure the doors are the same... I have to swap the fronts wiring harnesses... not 100% sure if they swap, but they look like it... rear windows are the same...

On the sedan with the 05 wrx Tien S-techs, 05 tophats and 02-03 wrx KYB GR2... with the rear fenders rolled JUST a little bit, there was No rubbing except on really hard hits to pot holes or speedbumps...

So update for today...

Its hard to take pics of a shinny black roof in very low light... So here is all I could really get...

Spent 1 hour cleaning all the mud out of the inner fender area before giving it a quick 180grit sand and Primer....

Got all the trim off thanx to Reason ;) 600grit sanded the WHOLE roof... Painted the right side of the roof..

Looks like the car is going to be black. I think the blacked out amber on the garnish will look good once the hatch is painted. :wink:

And the thing is cracked in a few spots, So i will end up replacing it with a JDM one once I get more $$$....

The final paint on the bottom half of the car will be Ruby Pearl.. same as the sedan...

doors maybe the same but rear windows arent when i had my car broken into they broke rear window and it took shop like ten different tries to find the right window (from dealership) all windows they tried were from a wagons and about 1/4 inch too long. if the doors do fit it will be MAJOR PIA to switch the windows. Hope this info helps.

Actually.. Not that bad.. took about 40minutes to get the first one apart.. Then 20 to get the next one out, and less than 10 to put them both back together... I should be able to get the otherside together quickly ;)

I just stuffed some resin in on it, it wasnt broke completely, just cracked...

BUT...

today I was backing up and it snagged on something and broke @ the crack... So I took it off, I am going to have to sand it down and lay on a few more layers of glass.... then sand, bondo, and repaint it...

JDM tails got here ;) Test fit one of them... I kinda like the center garnish in the black, with the black hatch, will be better once the paint arrives, hard to tell if I like it for sure with the red primer...

I closed my hatch though and I think there was a socket or something on the striker plate, now I cant get it open.... What do I do?

Spent the afternoon trying to Rotate the ehaust housing on my t3/t4, it was on a civic so the drain is upside down... Grr... Its rusty now too...

Also picked up a stock 06 TMIC off NastySock for 50$ shipped :shock: Anyone ever seen an 04-05 STi scoop on a legacy? Its the only scoop I got laying around....

Go inside the trunk and pull back the trim panel. You will be able to get to all of the lock and release mechanism in the hatch.

Torches work well on stubborn turbos. What sort of Civic needs a T3/T4?

STi scoop ought to look the business on a Legacy, but I bet you get all the air you need through an Outback or GT scoop...

Well no civic "needs" a turbo, but LoL ricers are out there....

I dont have an outback or GT scoop and I am really cheap, So I prolyl wont get one uless the STi scoop looks horendous... I have 2 L hoods So I'll cut up one of them...

I have tons of subaru 16inch rims laying all around different colors etc...

Paint arrived, and it was moderatly warm today, got the garage up to 57degres and started spraying...

Hopefully the final buffing will make the colors match better... Gotta remeber the door is prolly faded with time. also the fresh paint was still very glossy "tacky" at time of the picture....

UPDATE! for 1/20/08

Paint is entirely done...
Left side doors still need to be swapperd..
06 WRX intercooler fits great... Clears firewall by .5 inches...
Having some trouble rotating the housings on my t3/t4...

Change in Plans: Not going to lower the car anymore... Prolly raise it up to be more truckish, Super Swampers Possible, More likely BFG A/T....Since my overall plan is to make it a tow vehichle, Y NOT go all out!?

Ok.. Good news for the Wagon... Bad news for my 2.5RS ...


Good news..... I am taking tomorow and wednesday off work, to work on the wagon, hopefully finish it up, enough to drive NA....

Bad news... Motor siezed on the RS... she has been knocking for the last 10k miles easy... SO I switched to a thicker wieght oil... For the winter I've been running 10-40... Engine started knocking on my way home tonight, the oilpressure light flicked on, I threw the car in neutral and caosted to a stop (since I havent had brakes in the last few week) and the motor stopped.. Completely seized up.. Starter wont even budge the motor...

I've been wanting to panda-fy my wagon with a black roof...

well this weekend I was trying to figure out a pretty bad misfire this wagon has... It never would rev up past 4.5k rpm... It also wasn't charging...

So I bought new plugs, Wires, And 5 gallons of gas, few bottles of dry gas, and a new fuel filter...

So I pulled the alternetor off the Sedan, went to put it on the wagon and realized the crank pully dampening ruber was completely brke, and the pulley spun seperatly around the crank... So I had to swap the crank Pulleys since the sedan had a good one...

Also threw in a Yellow top I pulled out of a used-car @ work (non-oem parts get tossed) :twisted:

Charging system worked great...

But the car was still sputtering and not revving up all the way...
Changed the plugs wires and fuel filter and poured in the Dry-Gas/5gallons... I started driving around, it was runnig great! after about 20 minutes it really bogged down and died on top of my hill... so I rolled her down to the house, couldnt figure out why she wouldn't start...

Ended up pulling the plugs to clean them off thinking it was flooded... Did a compression test in the mean time, and here were the results...

1: 0psi
2: 145psi
3: 30psi
4: 140psi

Yep... not fun...

Yeah The pavement drops off on the closest corner.. So... The suspension is Flexed.. Going to get my 17s on SOON.. and then readjust anything as nessecary.. Thinking the rear might have to go UP just a little...

And then Took off my exhaust to do my Cusco Sway Bars. And it Really just FELL apart.. In a few places.. So NOW a NEW one has to go back on... Might as well be better! :mrgreen:

But the front doesn't clear NA headers... So I am making anew set of headers to go about 1inch further down to clear the swaybar.

Made myself a Jig to hold everything. And am going to use two Honda Civic Catalytic Converters (one on each bank) this header is going to be Equal length, with a cross pipe where I ended.

This is a Single Port engine.. I am GOING to port match the head to the new flanges, and am going to have to make my own Gasket.

I did get the Cross pipe on And one of the rear legs on where it will "S" Back to the center of the car and go into the stock Mid section.

Some of my welds are sucking.. But I'm thinking hey.. if its sealed.. its good.. Its all getting Covered in heat Wrapping.

When it comes to weld just because it looks pretty doesn't mean its a good weld. If your welds are bad I would do them over, they could crack with the heat of the exhaust.

Well.. Today I went out and got a new job ;) LOL Then came home and started welding the rest of the exhaust!

Yep... Got it all done except where it "y"s together and put it on ;) it sounds AWESOME! however my angling is a bit off so it is hanging down.. Going to have to take it off and put a little more bend in the pipe. and I'll finish the "y" tommorow

Maybe sand the rocker covers and spray some undercoating or bedliner spray to clean and protect things better. Seeing as you went through a lot to get it where it is now, this might sharpen things up a bit. JMO

Exhaust is meh.,. It bumped my gas milage.. went from ~26-27 now I'm up to 28-29. Car is INSANE loud through the stock muffler. No leaks! LOL Un-catted EL FTW! And thats without an O2 sensor.. LOL.. I STILL haven't bought a weld-on bung..

Its shortlived however. as I am purchasing an '06 2.5 NA motor swap next week ;) And will probably get an OBX equal length.

The wagon has 196,000 miles on her single port 2.2.

And because of the mileage I'm not going to travel anytime soon ;) Can I show up in my pontiac? LOL ... JK

More power Probably isn't necessary .. I went to an Auto-x and just went drifting ;p Its SOO fun! I swear I smelt tire smoke once. Car Obviously had enough power to light up the 2 inside wheels. But that was on crappy allseasons.. I have yet to get my R-Comps mounted..

I'm thinking about just holding on to it now till I can switch insurance companies.. I have only had insurance for 6 months.. the last 2 years I've just been driving other peoples' cars.. LOL

Unless the price is right I'll sell it.

O and scrap the idea of swapping everything to my old sedan.. the snow plow ran into it a few times over the winter.. broke the rear window and twisted the frame so that a trunk wont fit on it anymore.

I ALSO have a 2004 Nissan Sentra Ser Spec-v with a blown motor, I might borrow some moneys against and repair. Not a salvage title. Probably would make the most sense since i have had the top half off the motor for the last 4 months. I need about 3k .. and its worth 5k Trade-in value.

Then.. I could trade in That AND my pontiac.. on something Real nice!
