Moon roof broken

My dumbass friend punched my moonroof and broke the inner moon roof slider cover. When I try to pull it back, it makes an awful scraping noise and catches on things. I know Subaru is going to charge thousands to fix it, is anyone familiar with this or how to fix it?

Souds like the slide cover is off its slide rails. Mine has done this and I just open the glass panel all the way, drawing the cover back, and it pops back into the rails. Try this at your own discretion though as forcing it like this may make it worse (i.e. jam the whole thing up), but it works for me.

It was actually a lot easier to fix than I thought. I tilted the roof open and pulled the cover back as far as I could and immediately saw that a small metal clip designed to hold it onto the rail was pointing straight up. Pushed it back down and bent it in with some needle nose pliers and worked like a charm. Still not quite like it was before, but certainly usable.

well, as the man at the sketch used car dealership showed me, if I want my moonroof to retract into the back I have to stick my left hand out the window and push it down from above. But it so works.

My friend did this too, it's not too hard to fix but it's really a pain. This is the second time :|
