I realize the sound will be the same. But lets say you had an auto would you put an exhaust on it?

No i understand that it sounds the same. But when you hear an auto civic with a fart cannon drive buy you can tell its auto and it sounds worse than a civic thats a manual with a fart cannon because you cant hear the auto shifting. You know what i mean?

Why would an auto sound worse than a manual? An auto will likely sound better than a manual because unless the shift logic is messed up - the car isn't going to suffer from a lopsided driver who is heavy on the clutch.

Unless you're putting a fart can on, it won't sound like a civic.

1) Keep your resonator (or A resonator)
2) Don't use a straight through muffler (aka glass pack)
3) Get UEL headers for rumble, EL headers for more of an inline 4 sound and performance
4) Keep your cat, either stock or aftermarket

That'll keep your exhaust from sounding like a civic, not that it's really possible to make a 2.2 sound like a 1.6, but oh well.

Also, I think that the automatic subies have a quicker shift than an old 1980's civic.

This thread is funny, no your auto won't sound like a manual during shifts. In a manual you lay off the gas and the rpms drop, in a auto it's constant. So in that effect NO it won't sound the same. At idle and acceleration it will sound the same. If your goal is to fool people that your auto is a manual it won't work.

What exhaust do you suggest? I looked and cant find any for a 95? Will it still sound good with just an axle back?

Just get an SPT for a 1997-1999 GT and have the hangers modified to fit, if it even needs that modification, and a Borla manifold off ebay, if there are any.

At virtually any speed an auto Subaru is going to sound basically like a manual Subaru - same gen, vehicle, whatever.

The only difference is how the driver modulates the pedals. At idle and freeway they're going to sound pretty much the same. So how is that "rice"?

Oh and if you're really desperate, there's the exhaust washer mod... :lol: Unbolt the axle back, put 3 washers in between the flanges of the axle back and midpipe for each bolt and reassemble. You'll have a muffler, and you'll have a decent sized hole for the boxer rumble to escape. It's not a permanent solution, but it again, allows you to see what you think of the sound before investing any real money.

Yep, and I still stick to that argument. My friend has already talked at length to me about the benefits of an auto transmission in drag racing. And I can agree to it, but in any other form of racing manual is better, or atleast a form of automatic that allows the user control of gear choice.
