i need it to look like this this was taken with a cell phone,

Are you sure about that part?

Why don't you just dismantle a gauge cluster and scan them?

do you think you can make one based on km/h?

i live in canada :P

01-18-2008, 07:07 AM
i really need the 1 to 1 scan for hole location and shape. I would prefer mph just because i think once the proto is done, aka mine, most people will want a mph overlay however if you get me a scan of a kilometer cluster like I asked I would have no problem getting you the proto for that. You would just need to tell me the color you would want!

WELL my friend pdawg is my new hero he came through and got me a 1 to 1 scan and as payment he will be getting a free set of gauge overlays!

once these are done and once i talk to the mods of the board i will see if i can have a group buy or if i should just but them up for sale on the classifieds section

Check back in about 1 week!!!

cheeers!!!!

do I read the same as reading my stock one based on km/h?

I would like to get an orange one to match up with my gauge and dvd deck

02legacygt
01-23-2008, 02:17 PM
but do you want the kilometers to be the bigger numbers cause i would still need a scan of your cluster then for placement. To make sure your going the right speed and all. If you can get me the scan, i would keep good on my word of the first one for free.

on a side note i think i might be in a little trouble i took the needles of last night to install the gauges and reintalled them and now that are "sticky" and jumpy and the speedo wont return to zero at rest. ?? The needles are not touching anything but they are acting like they are.

Can anyone help

if the mph reads the same... I dont mind reading km/h as the smaller numbers

I dont really have the time to take out my cluster

You need to adjust the needles...you probably didn't put them on in the same place (dial-wise). This is common in the GC Imprezas where people have taken the dials off to change the lightbulb colors.

ALL IS WELL i fixed the needles i just didnt have them pushed in all the way, i'm dumb anyway here they are i love them and think they turned out friggin great, im gonna put a for sale up for the extra i already have made in the classifieds .

if you look in some of the pics you can see my Carbon fiber dash overlay i did myself!!,

the only the with the gauges is the lights is a little spotty, i mean, it is a little bright under the bulbs but other than that ... next best thing to indigo!

now for the pics!

Looks pretty nice dude! You will want to double check the bulbs in the back - sometimes they work loose and that's why you're seeing drop-outs.

I don't suppose you'd be willing to expand and do other model years?

I know the BD/BG/BK folks with 120mph speedometers are hurting for some, and I'd like an alternative to my crappy eBay 140mph overlays.

+1 one on the BD model years... we definitely need something done.

Also, what type of material / printer are these being made on? They laser cut? Details! =]

Good job man.. now u just gotta wire some diff colored LED's for the green screen there!

Also.. ideally.. i would love to get something with a high contrast face color so that it would be able to be viewed in sun w/sun glasses on during day, and high contrast at night, like.. red / black as well.

Something like the JDM type gauges would be awesome.. but that may require color filters / diff LEDS.

How did you make the templates so that it shines through blue.. is it because of a diff color LED, or does the actual print filter the normal bulbs.. so to say?

Also.. damn, BD's really need light up needles!

02legacygt
01-25-2008, 02:08 PM
um.. well like for this post i would need a 1 to 1 scan of someones exsisting gauges without the needles. Im sure if someone could get me that it would be no different than how i made these. The same offer stands the first person to get me one will get a free set!

Which brings me to my answer section the are made from 20 mil Velvet lexedge, i went with velvet finish instead of clear becuase it would help diffuse the light better and give a more even light throw behind the numbers, they are printed on a Gerber Edge with uses thermal transfer films and then cut on a Gerber Vinyl Plotter

very cool! =] Id volunteer mine.. but... its working... and in the car.. so id rather keep it that way! LOL. How hard was it to pull off the needles anyways... for whoever did it?

I'm sure someone here will hook you up.. but how much would you sell a kit for anyways.. or at least the gauges? Also.. was the color using the stock bulbs.. or colored LED's you installed?

would be sweet to get something like this JDM look(pic jacked from another thread):

https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2005/05/dsc014628bg-1.jpg

Minus the stupid yellow rings around the gauges.. could maybe make that red.. or not there.

Wonder if there is anyway to get the BD's needles to light up? i've seen kits where you can buy light up needles.. but anyone else have some good ideas?

01-26-2008, 09:02 PM
hey man ,,, the price would be the same for these and hopefully Reason would let me do a group buy for these ones 2, that is if someone can get me the scan i need!, and yeah that JDM cluster wouldnt be hard at all, just use a light silver for the numbers for the daytime, so you could still see them and then have them light up white at night!

really not a problem!!!!

BD guys i told you i need a scan of your gauges like i needed a scan of the BE gauges if you want me to do one for you guys!, and yes i can do them anystyle you want. ANY COLOR COMBINATION white, purple, pink, polka dot, carbon fiber, ANYTHING!!!!!! but i need that scan first.

the answer was about 4 posts back what they where made out of , it is very similar to what the original gauges where made from, (i.e, quality, ridgidness) in the group buy you can see and hear from people who have bought them from me already!, i dont sell crappy stuff!

If you can find a GT or 97+ Outback (BD/BG) with decent looking front calipers, I'd buy them.

pictures gentlemen. If you want stuff, post pictures. The celica was my first car I ever worked on and all the stuff I did with it was pretty basic. I'm still learning and will probably have no idea of half of what you're talking about. I'm good at taking shit apart and putting it back together, but I don't know what everything's called yet.

is that bad?

Brake Calipers. As in, the things that squeeze your rotors, they generally have pads in them.

http://www.pozitifpc.com/editorblog/wp-content/uploads/2007/03/brake_caliper1.jpg

It's red in this picture. I need the fronts off a GT or outback, as said.

Perhaps we should PM if any additional conversation is needed, and stay on topic.

there was a guy on 6gc who had his set custom made for him and the guy who made it somehow set it up so that the higher you rev or the higher the speed the needles go from glowing white to different hues of red. Pretty slick. I gotta see if I can find the link with the video.

hey off topic now!!!, Seriously if you guys want a BD/BH cluster GET ME PICS!!!!!

and you know since these are custom totally custom, there is really nothing stoping you from getting like "color shift colors". I mean having your lower speeds on your dash be like a white and then having them gradually fade to dark red the faster you went, just a suggestion!!!!
