ok so i found 2 used amps and i'm debating which one to get

rockford fosgate punch 200.2 supposedly never used for 100$
200 watts rms bridged
or
a phoenix gold QX350.2 supposedly in very good condition for 80$
350 watts rms bridged

i'm running a single 10" thump sub in a sealed box which I am soon going to upgrade but i blew up my old amp so i have to get a new amp first.

i used to have a rockford sub that i liked very much so i'm leaning towards that amp just because i know the company, i have never heard of phoenix gold and I can't seem to find their website or a manual for that amp so i get the feeling its not as good a company.
any imput on which amp is better will be apreciated
thanks
-Alex

The Fosgate, I had the same amp pushing two 12" Kicker comps in a sealed box and it hit hard enough for me.

rockford fosgate punch 200.2
* 4 ohms: 50 watts x 2 chan. 14.4v
* 2 ohms: 100 watts x 2 chan. 14.4v
* Bridged, 4 ohms: 200 watts x 1 chan. 14.4v

Phoenix Gold QX350.2

Specs from manual
4 ohm 12.5/14.4v 100/125x2
2 ohm 14.4 175x2
4 ohm bridged 14.4v 350X2

I dont know everything, but, they run the same volt (14.4). why not go with the higher watt. Phoenix Gold is a KNOWN stereo wiring company. In fact the R.F. gear that people are snatching up like battery clamps, power terminals are produced by Phoenix Gold

The PG actually is something i would like to get my hands on. But the RF isnt bad. I would rather run the PG, they usually run cooler, RF has always been known to run hot. Not to thermally shut down, but, none the less.

If you do happen to buy the RF, hook me up with the P.G. Either way you will be getting something with some kick.

Wow, around here you wouldnt see Phoenix gold amps in a high end stereo system. Rockford Fosgate is very popular around here. I never knew anyone who had problems with the RF gear. Plus the amps are underrated in power by RF. I used to bang the shit out of my speakers with my 200.2 amp and it just would not die.

when i was in the business we sold more Fostgate stuff, but the guys doing budget Spl stereos would run PG, I have never had a problem with them or seen one come back. No, they are not as flashy, but, they pound, they hold up when pushed hard. But, its more what you are wanting. Hell, I have about 4 Alpine amps i bought in the late 90's that still work great, but i have a Lancer amp in my car pushing my three Alpine type R's, it just cant be beat. Even the lower end guys get it right some times.

I newer guy at my work use to work for PG and he said they suck now since they have all their parts and assembly work down out of the US now, so pretty much everything they use now is cheap.

RF Hands Down, My friend refuses to use anything else in his car besides a RF system.

Keep in mind that different Voltages will give you diffrent watts. the PA's rating is probly based on 14v testing.

they both are 14.4 v

RF under rates their amps. That thing pushes out more than 200 watts. Even if they dont do it to the newer amps, RF is a better quality amp than PG.

Exactly.

RF dont brag or boast. whatever they say their specs are, thats what your going to get, if you have the right equipment you can get even better results out of it.
