I guess it's time to post my car - been lurking for some time now.
First - a list of mods to the car.

5MT transmission conversion (RS trans. w/4.11 final drive) The LSi model was never built with a 5MT

LSD rear diff - custom drive shaft - Exedy clutch kit

Techworks Engineering ver2 header, SS cat delete, midpipe, STi axleback.

Long Block Rebuild, Cam Timing, Grind and Polish Crank, Size rod bushings, Lap Valves, Cylinder Honing, Rod Bushings, Lightweight Pins, Switch to SOHC Pistons, Piston coating, OEM piston rings, OEM Engine gasket kit, Cometic Head Gaskets, Timing Belt, Heavy Duty Rod and Main Bearings, ARP head stud kit.

KYB GR2 struts, new front top hats, iON Performance lowering springs (1.18" drop) 17X7 BBS RK rims, Kumho SPT rubber.

JDM side markers, JDM Projector Headlights, 7 window tint.

JDM L7 Front Grille.

Upcoming - JDM power folding mirrors, JDM projector fogs.

Very nice looking wagon. the jdm fog lights will complete the jdm face lift.

Awesome. I need some more info on this - you put SOHC pistons in a DOHC engine? Cam timing?

Have you dyno'd the engine or the car at all?

I had Techworks Engineering do all the engine work. I am friends with the owner so he kind of just tried a few things for me. The idea for the SOHC pistons was for higher compression and lighter weight, also a shorter skirt resulting in less friction - also why he coated the pistons. This thing revs very quickly. I'm not too sure of all the technical work needed (cam timing) but assume that needed to be adjusted for the SOHC pistons and rods. Though not sure how it was adjusted as I don't have adjustable pulleys.

It has not been dynoed yet, still having a few leak problems - valve cover gaskets keep going. Might have leaking cam seals as well. To be honest it's not always the best to get favors done on an engine build...

Anyways, once I stop the leaks I want to get it on a dyno - I have dibs on a Minnam Turbo Kit that will hopefully be available in a couple of months.

Quick question - does the aerial not retract all the way down?

Interesting on the engine build... I would have thought they would have put their sleeved DOHC pistons in there to quieten it down. Then again, as you said, he was playing around a bit.

I was going to do a similar thing, but by taking an Impreza 1999 SOHC short block and attaching the DOHC heads to it. I figured the increase in compression (10.1:1 to 11.0:1 IIRC) would net some good pep, reduce the rattling (and therefore wear)...

Do you have to run on higher octane?

He he, good eye. No, my aerial needs replacing. Yeah, I have to run Premium. The stock 96 needed premium as well. The 96 also had a factory compression of 9 something : 1. It's now around 10 something.

I have surprised quite a number of people with this wagon. I think the most startled was the kid in his Integra (intake, and exhaust) who couldn't outrun me.

Thanks everybody, I don't know what is up with the antenna, it just wont go down further. I keep waiting for the day somebody snags it with their coat and busts it all up!!
