View Full Version : Yeah I hit a curb...

5mph, sliding sideways, just starting to recover back to straight and hit with my back driver side wheel. A pretty good sounding thud. It was leaving my work parking lot.

So here's what I've got: No vibrations, no pulling of the steering, no bent wheel, infact, just a little bit of paint on the lip came off, like anyone who curbs their wheel parking or such would have. I looked and looked but could not visually see the tire pointing differently than the other side. So looking at this pic, if I caused damage, it would be a bent suspension link, one of these two here, or the drag link?

I imagine these'd go before any strut damage. And yeah. I'm pissed. But my fortune cookie tonight from after dinner (after the incident) said "Things are not what they seem. It is not as bad as you think" haha.

take it to have a 4 wheel alignment done, if anything is tweeked, that will reveal the culprit. Better safe than sorry.

You may not have done any damage at all.

My BD hit a curb sideways at 5mph just like yours, it was enough to jolt me, but the car is fine. That was 2 years ago.

Yeah I've got lifetime alignments through firestone, so I could do that. I'm hoping it's ok just from looking at the wheel and how little paint came off. I'll still crawl under when I get a chance.

Might be worth checking the top of the rear struts to see if there was any flexion damage up there.

what were the results? i have i think the same problem, i hit a curb on icey roads and my whole wheel is cambered so that the bottom is pushed pretty far in, theres wobble at 60mph+ but otherwise theres not any problems with pulling to the left or right.

i pulled the wheel off but i couldn't see anything that was really bent, it could be the whole strut is just pushed in towards the car but i can't figure it out. Thanks for any help!

Never took it to the alignment shop, never had any problems. Tire isn't wearing funny. Just cracked the paint on my wheel.

bent the endlinks? That happened to me when I had my 98 Forester L the road was snow covered and the road had a crown in the road and I got on the gas too hard and too early and the rear end followed the crown and bent the steel rim and bent the endink.
