Lightweight crank pulley or short ram intake?

I have an auto 99 LGT and I have about $150ish to spend on it. I would like to know which one of these mods would I notice a difference with my car?

Pulley, but with $150 you should be able to get both, unless you thinkyou need name brands.

I can sell you a Group A lighten crank pulley for $90+ shipping and you can get a short ram intake on eBay for $25-$40.

BTW, why a pulley and not intake?

I read some posts that you can't really feel the difference with AUTO transmission, that true?

I have a lightweight GFB pulley on my automatic BD. I couldn't feel a great deal of difference with it, but I was happy to know that there was less rotational stress on my engine with the heavier transmission.

Anytime you strip weight off the car's moving parts, as long as it's still in harmonic balance with the rest of the car, then that's a good thing.

You'd honestly feel more difference if you stripped 5lbs off each wheel with lightweight alloys. And dumped the spare tire.

Intakes are pretty much the same - there's only a few that will really give you some additional ponies, but those are money.

I'd rather spend that money on better engineered parts like wheels.

I for one can sense the difference a quality lightened pulley set makes, it is definately noticeable. I could tell in my WRX I can only assume in my woefully underpowered Legacy it would be too.

Like most other parts you usually benefit more in boosted applications vs naturally aspirated.

When Subaru did my crank seals I had them do a tune up and put on a Perrin lighten pulley. I didn't notice power increase. I'm sure it did but you won't feel it. It just noticed the faster revs that's about it.

I could see the benifit in boost response - but since a crank pulley has little to nothing to do with air flow and all to do with rotational mass I am skeptical about the power increases being more in a turbine driven forced induction application vs naturally aspirated. but I don't have one on the leggy yet so I cannot comment on the difference. And you can feel response easier than you can feel small gains in power anyways so I can see where you are coming from when you upgraded - everyone's experience is a little different
