ok my car has gradualy gotten worse and worse. i cant figure out what is wrong with it. it is sputturing to a start cold or hot weather. starts just fine once the engine is warm. engine response has gone to poop. i give it too much throttle and it tries to stall out.and if i hold the throttle say at a cruising speed the rpms will go up and down according to my haynes its an injector but i could be reading the problems wrong. at first i thought maybe fuel pump or fuel filter. but that is not the case i am now thinking its the fuel injector. but i really dont want to spend to money on one and that not be the case. i was wondering if somebody here might have had the same problem and it turned out to be something really simple, or it turned out to be something really exspensive.
thanks.
its a 96 BD 2.2l sohc by the way.

You could try running seafoam in the tank, sometimes that helps to unclog the injectors.

If it is going bad, then you will have to have the offending one replaced.
A malfunctioning injector is bad, because it means the engine is trying to combust air and less fuel in at least one cylinder.
