I thought i saw this discussed somewhere, but i dont think the thread was ever completed and now i cant find what ive read. Sorry if its been discussed before and im just not seeing it.

Anyways, onto the question. Would a JDM Momo steering wheel w/ SRS airbag fit my 97 BD? Plug and play or what? because i dont want to have my airbag light on nor do i want to lose my airbag functionality. I notice it doesnt have a cruise switch on it so i would obviously have to put mine on it. What would this involve?

Anyone using a JDM steering wheel? I know alot of guys are running the USDM Momo WRX wheels but i dont think ive seen any JDM Momo Subaru steering wheels.

Version.6 JDM STi wheel, you just lose cruise control, bolts right in.

Its the same as the BE I believe but you don't have to lose cruise control. You just cut a hole in the side of the steering wheel and put your cruise control knob through it. 10 minute procedure.

That looks like it came out of a JDM WRX (GC chassis). I think you'll have the right plug for it (older type). Go to scoobymods.com to find out the differences between the new and old type plugs...I don't remember it off the top of my head.

Also; cruise control into a JDM wheel:

my steering wheel should be here today at some point if FedEx will ever freaking get here. I'll let you know in a few days when I get a chance to install if it's all plug and play on a BH or not

I'm pretty sure those are JDM Ver8 STi seats. Very hard to find and very pricey.

They're V.7 JDM WRX seats, I had the rear in too. Very comfortable.

Do any of you steering wheel experts happen to know if one of these will fit on a BG/BK?

Because that is a pretty sexy steering wheel.

You mean a BL? The first noticeable thing is none of the controls on the steering wheel will work.

No, I mean a BG/BK - ie. I know nothing about what steering wheel fits what, but I am into BG/BKs and like that steering wheel.

I am assuming all wiring issues can be overcome, but bolting on and getting SRS working may be another issue...?

I mean the steering wheel is from a BL (05+ Legacy GT Spec B). It has audio and other controls on the steering wheel which can't be overcome unless your a wiring expert. As for just swapping it to be used for just steering......not sure.

Ohhhhh. Gotcha. I misunderstood.

Anyone know if there are differences between mounting systems for steering wheels of different models?

No it's the same. You'll have to deal with the airbag connectors not matching up though.

Hmm. OK. Good news that the structure is the same.

I am inclined to take Peaty on Scoobymods advice regarding rewiring of the airbag - don't do it! However, maybe I could take the airbag from my current steering wheel and switch it over.

No, you can't. It's not just an airbag cover on the steering wheel, it's the airbag.

I understand that part. However, aren't the integrated airbag/airbag cover units the same shape and dimensions across the wheel designs?

You don't have a tape measure?

of course I have an effin tape measure....but I'm in my underwear, sitting in front of my computer....There's a few inches of snow on the ground and did I mention that I was already in front of my computer?

My laziness knows NO bounds....I refuse to learn the size of my wheels until someone tells me.

Well Shane, the server's so damn slow that you have to find something else to do after you hit that "submit post" button until you can actually view the post.
