I have a set of PIAA 580s that I took off my truck. Sweet lights!
I would love to have them on my LGT, but not sure where/how to mount them..... looking for ideas.
Anybody got any ideas????
Specs for the 580 are here: http://www.piaa.com/Lamps/Lamp-pages/580.html

Check out Alcyone's....His fog light setup inspired me to change my set up. Similar to ^^ but mounted where a FMIC might go.

Alcyone also has a JDM bumper designed for said lights...

MXS is here too (haven't heard from her in a long time). I sold those Hellas to her (they're 500 driving lights).

How about a wagon?

And if anyone's curious.... yes a swap is still in progress... with only "minor" changes

Would they not fit on a USDM bumper? I mean, if you custom made some mounting brackets?

I'm still here  I just read more than I post now.

Hang on and I'll find the pictures of my mounting brackets...

I promised these photos MONTHS ago, and I finally uploaded them.

The lights are mounted using 1.5" x 1.5" Home Depot L-brackets. The bottom is attached only to the bumper skin with 3 bolts (you have to take out the headlights and detach the bumper to do this). The top part has a bigger hole drilled out for the bolt on the bottom of the light. They sit out far enough so that I can still take the grille out. The height is perfect, the only problem is I can't adjust them left to right. But due to the curve of the front of the car, they are angled out perfectly.

Questions?

RallyLights says these are 6.3" diameter so that's close to what you have.

They'll have to hang a little lower than the lowest valence...you can mount them a little forward of the lip and it'll mount up fine.

I mounted mine a little lower than the grille so it didn't do anything to the air flow to the radiator. Of course, with no bumper cover it was even more of a logical place to put it...

I've got some 7in SRB lights that are just mounted to the frame inside the grill. I just drilled up and bolted them on!

Wow, that's really creative man. The only thing I can think of is "don't look into the light!".

OK... so while I'm screwing with bleeding the cooling system, I needed something to do with the down time while the system cools....... so I've got some brackets made, and will install today..... pics to follow.

OK... so I fabbed a couple brackets, and when I get the HGs done, I will put the grille back on(now painted all black) and get the lights mounted. These brackets actually are similar to what MXS did, but they will put the lights just slightly farther back from the front edge of the bumper. I wanted the lights as far back as feasable, to lessen the risk of damage.
Made them from 2"x2" angle iron, drilled and cut.ground as I needed.

- Bracket in place after drilling bumper... not bolted up yet.

-Both of them:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/03/Picture042a-1.jpg

-Starting off parallel using a straightedge, so aiming will be simpler:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/03/Picture044a-1.jpg

-Lined it up......
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/03/Picture045a-1.jpg
to mark the location like so:
http://i58.photobucket.com/albums/g240/Teej72/grille%20brackets/Picture046a.jpg

-I transferred the marks to the back edge of the grille:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/03/Picture047a-1.jpg

-Then I measured off the line from the mold, as this was close to, if not exactly, perpendicular to the L-R axis of the car:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/03/Picture049a-1.jpg
This allowed me to make parallel lines to the axis:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/03/Picture051a-1.jpg

-Using those lines, I cut the grille:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/03/Picture053a-1.jpg

Grille on:
https://sl-i.net/FORUM/images/imported/2008/03/Picture054a-1.jpg

I will get pics of the lights installed when all is said and done.... probably a couple weeks.

Looks good. I thought about mounting mine low, but I wanted them up higher for better distance, and less chance of stones, etc..... Too expensive to risk on a chip, or curb.

Are those fogs? thats the perfect place to put them.

If they're driving pattern, I think you can just relocate at bumper level - bolt the brackets up to the bumper beam...

nah those are driving lights. i made custom alluminum mounts so they are really light and they are supported with 2 bolts on the bumper beam. and they are very sturdy.

Has anyone mounted stock wrx fog lights on a BD? I have a pair, but don't know if I should mount it somewhere or just sell it.
