I have an opportunity to buy 05 Legacy GT front brakes for my 98 Legacy GT. They are dual piston sliders with 12.3" rotors which are bigger then the 07 wrx brakes. They are asking $300 which also includes SS brake lines. I would have to get 17" wheels for them to clear.
Im curious if these brakes would be hard to install myself? does this involve bleeding the brakes & would a mechanic be able to install them since they are used brakes from a different car? It is either these or new OEM brakes

It'll be the same process as mounting up a new set of OEM rotors and calipers. The only concern is having to get new wheels.

no different than any other brake job, the only issue I have with the LGT setup is 17in wheel clearance and that they are really really heavy. But for $300 I think I would buy them too

So no bleeding is required? Could I just use the oem brakeline and attach it to the new 05gt calipers or is the SS line required?
Does changing over the rotors mean a lot of work?

Step one, take of calipers.
Step two, unbolt the two bolts holding on the cailper brakets.
Step three, take off rotors.
Step four, doing everything in reverse order.

You can reuse your old lines, but if you already have SS lines, might as well do that too. You'll need to bleed it though.
