Hi Guys and girls :D

Well we had a bit of a gathering here in NZ at the begining of the month It was not an SLi meet as such but as close as we are going to get at the moment, Most of the SLi members are in the south and I am in the north and they are two separate Islands, so at this stage I have to settle for small local gatherings.

This run was a group of like minded subaru owners and yes some of them were of the wrx variety, but most were legacys
The blue V8 sti that is in the pics was a guy that traveled these back country roads all the time and new them well so we knew if his break lights came on it was for a good reason ! and it was time to brace for a serious corner. We coverd about 500ks on a wet sunday from auckland in the north down to a place called raglan. There ended up being two groups of us as some wanted to make the best of the fast twisty roads and others were more subdude in there driving style mainly due to the wet weather and poor tyre choice, But that was ok as every half an hour or so we would stop and wait for them to catch up and it was a good opertunity to take some pics while we waited.
One of the guys even brought his gangsta dog along and it loved it !
anyway here are some pics of the day.
I hope you are all envious as it was a realy good day and wish you were all there to share it :)

Thanks Pete.

Lovely countryside views.

Too bad you were travelling too fast to get some good shots of the twisties for us.

I am somewhat ignorant of Non-US Legacys (Libertys ?), You had many pre-'97 older style (narrow grille, small square foglight) Legacys that were not just your basic commuter vehicle. Were these Turbos ? 2 litres ?

Looks like you had an excellent turnout.
You are most fortunate to live where you do.

looks like fun. Nothing prettier than a line of Subies with beautiful countryside in the background.

Hi Jonathan, Yea a great deal of the legacys here are that shape, well the ones in clubs anyway, and they are for the most part standard cars.

They are all twin turbo and because of this they are hard to modify, there are after market parts you can get here for them but realy you are limited to boost controlers. The cars are seriously over powered any way so a bit more boost will eather make you crap your pants or blow your engine or in some cases BOTH !

Most of the cars in the pics have only had the wheels and exaust changed, some have after market springs fitted to give them that low look.

Acouple have changed the ECUs to get more power by way of ignition timing changes and the boost and speed cuts are removed, depending on what brand ECU you go with the results vary greatly, for instance the silver station wagon went all out and bought a high tech ECU and when we ran it on the Dyno he lost more than 50kw at the wheels, needless to say he was not a happy camper :( and all the cars were 2 litre.
I might add that this was just a small group of friends, on an organised cruz there would be maybe three times more legacys than this.
I will get my act together and organise a proper SLi one in the near future.

Hey dude, how are you and welcome aboard SLi :-D

Are you still running a subaru ??

Things in NZ have sort of fallen on there ass with Club Sub, well for us in the north any way. There have been no cruzes or get togethers so hopefully we can get a gathering for SL-i but all the guys that have jumped ship are from the south island !! How bad is that ?

any way good to see you here Huffer hope you enjoy your stay :-D

Pete.
