ecu should be fine, tho if your boosting you should get a stand alone. and yes i know somebody that has done the swap to an 93 legacy. IIRC you need the tranny and linkage, as well as a hydrolic clutch set up if u dont already have one. you will also need an automatic drive shaft, and a rear diff with the matching gear ratio (i dont remember what it is). i also think you have to swap out the stub axles on the tranny.

One thing that might be tricky is whether or not you get a 6spd w/ the DCCD or not. If so, then some fancy wiring might have to be done.
Not sure about converting from twin-bi-dual turbo to single, but I would think you could use the stock ECU as long as you have someone that knows what they're doing tune it, not that there is anything wrong with a stand-alone.
You'll have to get a matching rear diff (3.90 Ratio), I think regular WRX's use that same ratio as well.
Not sure about the axles, but you should be able to get a diff/axle package.
I just know the basics, someone correct me if I'm wrong
What is the particular reason that a 6spd is desired? power holding?

oh yea, as for the DCCD, there are some aftermarket set ups you can get to control it. or else its just guna stay in a 35F-65R split as default.

Ah... is the because it is electronically controlled?

wrx's do not have the same ratio, the center diff is a 1.1:1 so the rear diff is stepped down to a 3.54 or something close to that
STi should have a 3.9 rear diff though.

also, I believe the rear axles in a SS are the same as in a WRX, if so the STi uses a larger splined shaft on its axles requiring different hubs, so you can either get STi inners with SS outers for axles or go with STi hubs. Also of course new clutch and flywheel
I think the rest was pretty much covered in the previous posts
