Year: 1997
Make: Subaru
Model: Legacy Brighton

History:
Purchased November 2006 as a winter beater so the teg could stay out of the snow/salt and such, and so i could enjoying driving driving in the winter a little more.

being a brighton it lacked a tach so the first thing was buy another cluster and toss that in. then made a custom grille for it and painted the steelies.

over the summer of 2007 i removed much of the interior for cleaning. previous owner had a dog in there all the time, so there is more hair in that car than i care to describe.

also had a go with the famous "$50 paint job", i went the route with interlux topside boat paint. im very happy with the results tho it could still use some more time and effort into it to be better. also added an ebay intake at this time.

Winter 07-08, got a set of 94 turbo legacy wheels and Blizzak revo tires. it is now a beast in the snow and on the ice. other recent installs include a GroupA light weight crank pulley and a kartboy short shifter.

Goals:
Build and install my high comp frankenmotor, 2.5 block with 2.2 heads, i have all the big parts, just need new gaskets and for the heads to be freshened up.
install the 13.8lb fly wheel i just bought (thanks AussieDan!)
dont really have much else planned besides beating the crap outa it and enjoying it as much as i can.

Pics:
day of purchase.

How much did the paintjob actually end up costing you? It looks pretty good in the pics. Did you remove the door trim to paint it, or just leave it on and paint it still on the car? I assume you HAD to take the door handles off. Just curious, maybe for future reference. Either way, it looks good.

^ cost of supplies was probably 150 or so including paint, primer, fiberglass, and sand paper. door moldings and handles both stayed on the car for painting. only things i removed was the tail lights, and the whole front clip.

how'd you manage to paint the door handles with a roller still on the vehicle?? That takes skill.

still impressive. When I finally manage to get another subie I'm going to borrow my roommate's air compressor and the HVLP gun that I used at the fire department to spray our utility truck to paint it, much in the same fashion as you've done. It looks pretty good for $150 in supplies.
