Finally got everything together to install headers on my 2000 GT.
Any tips on the installation or thing not to do? It look pretty straight forward.
I purchase a used cobb with the high flow cat. I have the gaskets and the little O2 no cell thing. All I need is a nice day this weekend to do it.

Dont strip any nuts/bolts......

Make sure the car is cold.....

For shits and giggles, turn your car on after you put on your new header/cat, but before you bolt up everything else. :D

If you really wanted to make them mad, after you take the stock ones off, start it up and rev up to about 5000 rpms. Might need earplugs though... :P

So you said you bought the cobb headers. Where on their website are they? I cant find them.

Did you have a chance to install them yet?

If so, how are they?

I bought them form a guy on NASIOC. COBB is no longer supporting any Legacy's except '05 on. :x Last weekend was a wash out so I don't have them on yet, hopefully this weekend. I'll keep ya posted.

SOAK THOSE EXHAUST STUDS IN WD40 BEFORE YOU START TRYING TO LOOSEN THOSE NUTS!!!

Then clean them with a wire brush & WD40 after you get the headers off. Once you got that done, let them dry and coat them in anti-seize. Thats one of my favorite shop tools.....

1. Anti-seize
2. WD-40
3. Brake cleaner

Factory don't care what happens after they make the car.....just how it goes together.

YOU have to care how it keeps up along the years. Trust me, its easier this way. Each stud is worth $5, not including labor to pull the snapped or stripped one and pressing/screwing in the new one.

+7 for revving the snot out of it with the headers off!! Get a camera ready under your car too.....you will more than likely see a pretty sweet light show at 4k...

Thanks for all the tips The header went on without a hitch. WOOW. It is so much fun to drive.

I have one question. What is the deal with the bolts with the springs, what is the purpose of the springs. How tight should they be.

I will have some video as soon as I figure out how to get it off my camera to the computer.

PB Blaster > * for rusty nuts + bolts.
When I put my headers on I spreayed them the night before and got all ntus off without issue. Any time i need to tackle something under the car, I use PB and rarely have problems.

And I live in the North East!

Going to be doing this tomorrow (soaking in PB blaster as we speak).

Anyone got tips on the top bolt that goes on the header ---> cat pipe flange? It looks like I'll have to unbolt the cat and lower it as well...
