axle back. A cut out would be way too loud for way too slow of a car

well the cutout will give more flow when open. but you cant have the flow when driving down the street. and you'll have to cut your midpipe and weld in the cutout. plus the leak after a while. a stock wrx or sti catback will give you a little better flow(needs a little mod with one hanger) but i would go with a good catback pref. i had a zero sports 70mm on my bd and i loved it and it meets JASMA specs. so its under 93db and keep it legal. post what catback your thinking of?

okay so i know the cutout is a bad idea, but for a catback i was thinking of geting an sti axle back and maybe a high flow cat, i dont realy know what will sound good on it

STI Genome axle backs are nice but to expencive around $550 used. you should get a mid pipe too because the sti axle backs dont mount to the stock legacy mide pipes(holes dont match up perfect 3/8in difference) you could make it work. i might be able to get a wrx axle back with the 2 tips plus if you get a wrx or sti muffler the hanger berfore the muffler needs to be welded to the other side

if you going to go with a stock wrx or sti muffler you could make your own mide pipe with aluminized steel from summitracing. for like 50 bucks

well they sell it in 4ft lengths so need 2. can do it in 2.25" 14ga, or 2.5" 16ga. if you make the midpipe youll need to use the front flange of your stock mide pipe. make a rear flange out or 1/4in steel weld it up. bend it up weld up the hangers. do you want a resonator on it?

well its like $12 for each pipe plus shipping and like $10 for the rest of the metal. you could either angle cut the pipe or bend it with a torch
you can find a wrx muffler for $80 shipped on ebay. you live in southern new hampshire?

yah iwas planing on it eventualy. but im deffinately gonna go with making my own mid section. so would a 3 inch diameter be to thick?
decke48
02-17-2008, 07:05 PM
you could. but the cobb is 2.5" so there would be no point unless you got a 3" muffler

tech works makes a 2.5" super flow cat for $2 more if you wanted a 3" you would have to buy a aftermarket wrx muffler

ohh ill stick with the 2.5 inch.
