Charge and Brake Light on dash.... both coming on

I am getting both the charge light, and the brake light coming on at any speed above idle. I am thinking alternator, but still need to diagnose further.. anybody else seen this?

Sounds like the alternator to me too.

Did some further testing.. definitely alternator. Replaced.... Lights are out, all is good, electrically, anyway.
Not sure why both lights were on.....

dont know why they both come on, but thats what happens in these cars when the alternator goes.

I would reccomend doing voltage drop tests from B+ to the alternator post, and from alternator case to B-, I found after mine went once it started going every few months (hooray autozone lifetime warranty and optima yellow top to get me there!) Turns out i had too much resistance in my charging cable, which was causing the alternator to over work itself and die. just a thought.

Yup.. same thing happened to me last week after washing out my engine bay.. fried the alternator stupidly.. picked one up at the junk yard for $40.. and made a DIY replacement guide!

The exact same symptoms were happening to me, the battery light / brake light would come on, also the ABS light would come on.. and they would go on / off after hitting certain RPM ranges. I also smelled a really weird smell in the engine bay / coming through the vents.. smelled like burned electrical motor smell.. mm..

Glad you got it fixed! You get a used, or new alt?
